2023 is a year of recovery for China's economy and a time for its citizens to reconnect with people around the world. Tourism, along with food and consumer spending, bounced back big time over the Chinese New Year holiday. The Chinese economy has shown resilience, tremendous potential and great vitality. And the mainland's steady growth bodes well for Hong Kong's own economic rebound. With cross-border flows of people and goods back to pre-pandemic levels, Hong Kong can better meet its "super-connector" role between the Chinese mainland and global markets. On this, World Insight host Tian Wei talked to Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the chief executive officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and chair of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

Here I would like to correct Tian Wei's "Lunar New Year". As Chinese people use/used both solar and lunar observation to determine the calendar for over three thousand years (中國人用的是陰陽曆, 至少可追溯至商代), using Lunar New Year as a substitute for Chinese New Year is at best incompletely correct, or simply incorrect.
