What is Janmashtami
1. It is not only Hindus but Jain, Buddhists and even Muslims celebrate Janmashtami. Their idea is if they take Krishna’s darshan then whole year will be nice.
2. Gaudiya focuses on the essence.
3. Who is Krishna? - what authorities say
a. Brahmaji, the second creator says - Ishvarah paramah Krishna. Krishna is supreme Lord.
b. BG - aham sarvasya prabhavoh
c. SB - ete chamsa kala pumsah
4. Why does Krishna come here? - due to compassion.
5. Why are we here? - Our existence is to serve Krishna - jivera Swarupa haya Krishnera nitya das. But we want to become controller, enjoyer and proprietor like Krishna. Can everyone become Narendra Modi? Even if we try to make everyone like that then there will be misery. Similarly, we are suffering.
6. I can’t be enjoyer because everything is temporary.
7. We are kept in 3 kinds of miseries - adhyatmika, adibhautika and adidaivika, 3 modes of material nature.
8. One who understands this - Janma karma cha me divyam - goes back to Godhead.
9. I have not seen even one person who can stay here permanently. But everyone thinks “hum honge kamiyab”, and passes the whole life in that hope.
10. After I got HHRNSM and SP, then I was meditating on my past life - How I was living like a donkey. Krishna has given me everything but I realise “maza nahi hai”.
11. Krishna has given us 3 things
12. Philosophical clarity -
a. who is He, Jiva, nature, time and Karma.
b. Everyone is stuck in Maya
c. One who takes Krishna seriously then he understands the reality of life and understands that this place is not for me - janma karma ca me divyam.
d. One who takes shelter of Him is relieved of material modes.
e. A devotee understands that he needs to change himself.
13. Pastimes - to attract us
a. Parikshit M - He got attracted to Krishna’s pastimes when he only had 2 days to live.
b. Krishna’s pastimes are pure, therefore everyone gets attracted.
c. Krishna stealing butter, forced by Gopis to work and then His dhoti opens and he cries.
14. Scriptures and association - We are struggling with anarthas - lust, greed, envy, anger etc. We want to go BTG so that our anarthas don’t haunt us and we can serve Krishna properly. We get solace after reading scriptures and commentaries of acharyas and associating with devotees.
15. When anarthas are haunting, take shelter of chanting and you will get solace.
16. Why Krishna doesn’t take us back immediately. Because we haven’t got clarity that “I am stuck here and this place is not for enjoyment but purification.”
17. If Krishna had not come, we wouldn’t have got philosophical clarity, pastimes, scriptures, association, acharyas and Holy Name.
18. Even a materialistic father thinks about a son who has left home. Will Krishna not think about us?
19. Krishna now I have started understanding. I understand that I have anarthas. I will follow the process given by you and gradually get rid of anarthas, even if I don’t, I will cry “Sri Krishna Chaitanya prabhu, daya karo more…”.
20. I sincere devotee becomes humble. In the end Radharani protects us and tells Krishna “Please accept him”, and then Krishna can’t say no.
21. On the day of birthday we give gifts. What can we give to Krishna. Our anarthas are hauting us. We can take some vows on this day to please Krishna (I will not eat this or watch this).
22. We can also pray to Radharani, “Krishna will not accept me. You are the only hope for me”
23. We have taken responsibility of family but no family members are happy with us. Do we really want to spend life like this?
24. I will take shelter of scriptures, Holy Name and Radharani. At least this much sincerity I can show. I have no hope other than causeless mercy.
25. From my side I can be sincere and then beg for mercy. This is what Janmashtami is.
