Crape Myrtles are easy and fun to grow. Nice flowers from them. Jay gave you some nice seeds. That is the full seed of the Moringa. Nice seeds from John.
great video Gav! I'm glad that you got your yew. I dug two of them up from my parents garden earlier this year, one I intend to plant in the ground in spring and make a larger bonsai out of, and the other I'm gonna make a smaller tree from. Excited to see what becomes of your tree. Also, love your hat!
Thanks Joakim! I've never been able to keep a Yew alive for some reason, so am trying to be a bit careful with this one. That's great that you have two of them. I guess with that you can experiment and see which one develops and grows better. Thanks 👍 it's getting cold, so it's much needed
looks like Yew found a little tree worth rescuing. They are a very interesting Tree and quite rare here. Looks like its got a fair few fine feeder roots, so it may yet do alright. Awesome gifts from Jay and a very generous amount of seed too. Thankyou for the shout out Gav, and it was nice to see "Spider Shine" and teacup Doug :)
Thanks again buddy for the sugar pine seeds and hopefully they germinate and grow well. All of these seed varieties are new to me so it's going to be a fun experiment. Hopefully the Yew grows and recovers. I know they don't like much water, so will go easy with the old watering can 👍
Yes. You have to use soil you can afford in order to make bonsai enjoyable for yourself. I think people get frustrated because of the expense. I like your theory. Bonsai on a budget. Excellent!
Nice save! Yews are cool trees, I have an old one in the ground at my place and they have cool little red berries that pop out every year! One day I'll get a good air layer from it! Good luck with yours!
Thanks, I think it was. I've always liked Yews as bonsai and this was a great find. I've tried sowing a few of the berries, so you never know, they might grow 🤞
@@dreamingofbonsai It may be worth trying, but I think they may take a while before they will germinate. They will need scarifying or soaking in vinegar before sowing to accelerate this
@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel not a yew in my case Yew can grow from semi hard wood cuttings at almost 100%, so for a small sapling like that isn't necessary an air layer. That is why I think it may take, but on the other hand is almost winter
Well done rescuing the yew, l also love a good find. Good luck 🤞
Thanks and this was a lucky find. Had I not taken it, it would have found its way on the compost heap. Which would have been a great shame.
Good on YEW for saving that sapling! I need one of those in my collection too.
Thank Yew so much! 😂 Hopefully this recovers well and becomes a nice little bonsai tree
Yew did a great job Gav!!
Thanks Pauly!
That will be a nice little yew!

Hopefully so Kennet
Hi Gav, this nice little yew tree deserves to be saved. Well done👍Fingers crossed 🤞

Cheers for the advice Tom. They've all been planted so fingers crossed!
Lovely stuff Gavin. Thanks for the updates matey!
Thanks and hopefully this Yew survives and the seeds grow 🤞
Awesome video gav, i hope your yew survives and the seeds are great too 👍
Cheers Dan, hopefully so!
Great work Gav! Very nice video.
Cheers Matt
Great video gav 👍
Cheers Callan 👍

@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel silly me I’ve never tried snagging the berries for seed! I’ll have to do that next year!

To bad you did not have any beneficial bacteria to put into the pot and around the roots to help get the roots started. Nice potting of this yew.
I don't currently have any, but that's a great tip 👍
I have loads of English yews I love em as bonsai 😊
They can make excellent bonsai. How come you have so many Jamie?
@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel they grow in my local woods I collected around 15 this year alone 😅 sold a fair few on my ebay store this year 👍
@@keepingitkoi Excellent Jamie! Yews are usually very sought after, so I imagine they sold well
@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel yes they did all pencil thin kind like the one you rescued normally selling for £30-£40 👍
@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel emailed you 😊👍
If we were in spring I'd say that yew will take 100%. But in this time I'm not quite sure
Hopefully it does take. Usually they say winter is the right time to transplant trees so 🤞
@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel i collected some airlayers a month ago also, so we are in the same boat
@@bonsaikastur I've never tried air-layering a Yew, but know it can be done 👍
