In the last two weeks of August 2018, we went on an expedition to Käsivarsi.
Käsivarsi Wilderness area is the second largest wilderness area in Finland, offering all of Finland's mountains over 1000 meters, as well as lush valleys and great fishing waters.
With 40 kilos backpacks, filled with too much oatmeal and too little whiskey, the plan was to spend 10 days to traverse the wilderness area by foot and in packrafts. Following the connected rivers from the mountains up north to the pine forrest down south. We paddled more than 170 kilometers, a trip with stunning nature, adrenaline-filled kayaking and some involuntary swimming.
