  • www.inexcess.tv... A new documentary on the latest steps to recovery of former BBC and ITN broadcaster, Ed Mitchell, is broadcast exclusively on Inexcess TV - marking Eds return to television and first employment following his battle with alcohol and homelessness.
n his new role as editor at Inexcess Television, Ed produced and directed his latest documentary, Ed Mitchell: Lost and Found, the third programme to be broadcast on Eds life story, from living as a white-collar tramp to his subsequent recovery from alcoholism. It follows the two prime-time documentaries, Saving Ed Mitchell and Ed Mitchell: What Happened Next? for ITV.
Almost two years on from his last drink in December 2007, Ed revisits the places that played an important part in his homelessness and subsequent recovery in this latest mini documentary. He explains his thoughts and feelings on what happened to him and what he has learnt that might be useful to others. Ed also chats with his son, Freddie, and to his partner, Mandy, who gave up alcohol on the same day as he did.
2009 has been a turning point for Ed. His book, From Headlines to Hard Times was published to great acclaim in January, telling Eds candid story of how he battled the demons of alcohol and debt which led ultimately to his homelessness, and also now his return to broadcasting as editor at Inexcess.tv.

    Inspirational story, well done Ed.
I was interviewed by Ed this week, at a new financial radio station, Share Radio. He was a consummate professional, putting myself & the other interviewee at ease immediately, and was a very interesting experience.

just watched you on Meridian TV, and found this. i hope your story helps many others to recover from this illness. i am a recovering alcoholic, and went to AA 20 years ago. February the 4th to be exact ,and one day at a time ive not picked up again, after 25 years drunk and losing it all, like you. and lucky i got my wife back and she told me soon after she had 5 years to live with cancer, i was able to stay sober and nurse her, we were married 24 years, 17 of them i was a drunk, and i got my children and home back and lucky i still had a job. when she passed away i had 10 deaths in the family in 6 months, and i was in New York on 9/11 heading for the WTC, where i had been in 2 years before, and still i didnt pick up a drink. i was told i had 6 months to live and lucky to see my 43rd birthday, today at 63 i have a life today, and a new wife. and home, bad health, but grateful for what i have today. and peace and contentment. like you Ed, well done and thanks for sharing your life. Ray in Kent.

This is old now. I sincerely hope he's still dry. I hardly touch the stuff now. I was at the crest of that slippery slope myself, when my marriage collapsed, but luckily had a scare event that made me see sense. I did like what he said about not replacing alcoholism with recoveryism.

Wow is this true? I am american, and although an Anglohpile, I'm not familiar with Ed Mitchell. This is an intense story. I saw another longer video posted which i will check out next. Alcoholism sucks. Brings down so many good ppl. Myself included

Shiawasenaneko I've seen him when he was at rock bottom as I lived very near where he was sleeping & ive lives in Brighton & hove all my life.
My stepfather was an alcoholic. Thankfully my mum divorced him, got as much ££ off him as allowed. We'd heard that he's dead now. No ones ever bothered checking up to see if 100% true, even his son wasn't fussed.
Shows what a nasty person he was for 20+ years.

And he is a lucky one. Not all alcoholics can come back and capitalize on the wreckage they made. Being in a celebrity role, he's able to return for a second coming. That usually doesn't happen in the real world.

Shiawasenaneko it's easy to say that now but it could've gone either way. He could be dead

I know of numberous people who juggle with alcohol. It seems that most have their lives compromised in many ways. I can see it a mile off. My dad has always been a pain in the arse when on the drink. Now hes old and bitter and still drinking
