Yeah, typically 2. Super hornets have the ability to carry a maximum of 5, but typically their centerline one is a buddy pod so that they act as a tanker. The other pods on the Growler aren’t actually drop tanks, they’re ALQ-99 High and Low-band jamming pods. They’re what give it the offensive jamming capabilities.
The targeting pod on the right wing with the little propeller on it, the wingtip antennas/receivers where aim 9's would normally go and I believe the rectangular bumps at the base of the vertical stabilizers are also only found on the G as well. It's really just a Super Hornet with a few extra antennas and specialized load out.
The USAF should consider getting itself an electronic warfare fighter aircraft like the EA-18G. Perhaps it should just purchase the EA-18G to maintain commonality with the Navy.
Marines flew the EA-6B up to 2019, ten years after the EA-18G entered service. Neck-down makes so much sense even if it's a airframe conceived of in the 60s
They use the same airframe. To my understanding, the Growler has some modification made to its avionics and to be able to carry other electronic sensors and jamming equipment. Growler also doesn't have guns as well.
Growler is a electronic warfare plane. It's used to jam missiles, radar, communications, etc. it also had isr capability which is intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance but can also act as a fighter
How does it jam the enemy''s communication without affecting friendly communication? I think the details must be top secrets. So if you know how; you can't explain it here.
Intel gathering. You don't know what frequencies your foe uses. Not initially. War and peace time frequencies or even communication methods vary vastly. Hence why ukr is currently so important for the US. Finding out how Rus communicates in war. Once those frequencies are known jamming can begin. So probing is probably done well before jamming actually starts. Jamming is, however, only a short lived solution as frequencies, transmission power and communication methods are changed every so often. Jamming is also a two bladed sword. Lock-on-jam has been a feature for decades now. And certain systems can work around most forms of jamming. It won't guarantee your safety...but it helps...
They have a signature. They are visible to most radars as their coating can only absorb so much. Cm length radar waves and larger ignore the raptors coating. That is not it's trump tho....close to all missiles use millimeter length radar proximity sensors to trigger. Those can be absorbed by it's coating. You're, however, still screwed when the missiles has both, radar and Lidar sensors. A laser will still see the raptor no matter what
What if the Growler came face to face with Russian fighter jets that is infamous for its multirole ability having electronic countermeasure and high powered radar jammers? I think both will have a tough combat
How tf many fuel tanks it can carry
2 typically but I think it can carry 3

Those are jamming pods
Yall know Growler is slang for a certain female anatomy part in England, right? 🤣
Current generation "Wild Weasel"?
No, wild weasels are aircraft baiting the enemy to turn on radar and then use radar-tracking missiles. The E/A-18G is purely electronic warfare
No. Wild Weasel were specifically s.e.a.d. aircraft, and can't do jamming. This bird is exactly opposite, with the ability to do air to air
What`s the differents between the EA-18G Growler and the F/A 18 Super Hornet? Cause I see an F 18 when I see one.

@@greg8106 Ok Thanks.
Also noise
Engine has a more reverberating noise than a super Hornet
Both are loud and fast
Great to see the RAAF Growler in this clip! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

F15EX tho

whats the diffrence between the growler and the super hornet or are theyre the same???

@@dallasyap3064 thanks for the information

The growler has pods on the wingtips. The super hornet has missile rails on the wingtips.
It did a trick shot recently. Harm into a hind.

Maybe it jams a certain frequency that the enemy uses ?
I am just guessing though

Khibiny has entered the chat.🤣😂
The f 18's twin brother 💀
does it block friendly radars too?
It will never be equal to the EA-6B.
No weapons.
Wild Weasel !@@@
Or just use the Raptors they dont need Radar jamming because they have no signature lol

stealth doesnt make you absolutely invisible, but you can fly certain routes to give enemy anti air the hardest time possible to shoot you down though
Raptors are old ASF!

Not really. Nazi Russia has already shown it's military is trash. America EW is better.
They should fly the Growler over the debate Thursday night, to block the transmission into Joe Biden's inner ear device
But Russia has much better equipment for it!
if you compare them to like an ea-6b, even then it would be pretty close
❤❤❤❤😊😊😊🤭🤭🤭🤭🙏🙏🙏
Now Super Hornets can be retired
Nope, two aircraft with two different roles and capabilities
Is this a joke?
