I remember riding these trollies to school in Philly ..in one type, the conductor would walk from one end to the other end at the conclusion of his route and run the trolley from that location. These videos bring back a lot of happy memories......
Cool video but the 1956 date? Judging by the number of Chevy Corvairs I spotted in the clip, which was introduced in late 1959 early 1960, this has gotta be an early 1960’s video. Thanks for posting!
PCC trolleys in NYC had blinker doors not folding doors like in Philadelphia. Otherwise they looked the same. They ran in Brooklyn and were made from 1936 til 1937. When the city goverment took over, no more were ordered.
The "streetcar slaughter of 1956" was when most surface lines were replaced by buses after National City Lines management took over the PTC. Unfortunately, this appears to be an 8 mm film, it would have been much clearer on 16 mm.

wonderful video - makes me wish I was there
9:13 View is Woodland Avenue looking east to 49th Street with entrance to Grays Ferry Avenue at right in the distance. PTC car barn is at left.
Correction at 4:30 mark instead of 9:!3.

Presidential trolley cars have been refurbished twice in last 20 years.

At 4:10, there is a '61 Olds F-85.
Yeah, there are a number of '58, '59 and '60 Chevy's in there. Still a beautiful video
