In earlier history they were able and did marry. You should stick to the truth.

i worked with a woman whose husband was a Assembly of God minister. She said, it's better for them to not be married because if they are good shepherds, they don't have enough time for their family...

  • @tgwcl6194

Real reason, only an eunuch is allowed by Christ to lift Him above the Altar!

  • @JanierCaban-Hernandez

It also has to do with distribution of wealth. If married, what happens to the wife if she outlives her husband? The church does not want that obligation...

  • @Paco0parla

Don't wanna be a "well, actually" guy but some things: Roman Catholic priests are celibate, but Easter Catholic priests can be married men, the eastern Catholic churches are churches with different rites (liturgy, artistic tradition...) but in theological communion with the Roman Pontiff. In any case, once they're priests, they cannot marry, only before. Also, this is a disciplinary decission, therefore, the church could change it, as it wasn't the norm in the early church. The historic different between western (Latin) and eastern catholics can be explained by the mixing of monastic life with the general priesthood that happened in the west, but not in the east. Monks and friars were always celibate in both parts of the church since they're devoted to preaching, charity and contemplative life, in the west, some of their charisma mixed with the whole concept of priesthood, on the east, the barrier between monastic life and other priests remained more defined.

Roman catholics dont. Greek catholics do so.

  • @phillipbingham487

Actually the Apostles were married..It was a requirement of all Jewish men to marry..The only exception is Jesus himself who was considered by his times a lad..usually 35 years of age was adult age for men..so being 33 he was not quite old enough
