- Day 2 of the Arena Open is here! 🎉 Time to test my drafting skills in pursuit of the $2,000 prize 💰. In this video, I tackle Draft 1 with a deck that surprisingly features 0 rares 😱. Can I overcome the odds and secure my spot in the second draft?

Wonderful draft: really educational that you shared your thought-process as you navigated that. GG!
Glad you liked it! 🙏
How you didn't tilt with those draws was a masterclass. Bravo
@@Spinaldash i had an outburst of emotions inside, maybe it doesn't show but I was physicly drained out in the end. Thank you for watching🙏
Not getting tilted is a prerequisite for optimal performance, i always get tilted😂 Good Job!
Honestly, I agree with the keep game 3 match 1 but that was rough. No land in 3 looks. It's happened to me before in an Open. Tough luck
Arguably I threw that match keeping game 1 hand. That keep was sus.
@@dafore_ With the opponent playing so many narrow cards and maybe seeming like more of a "fun player" going to 6 to dig for a more consistent hand was probably the right move
@@Franciumflourine I like the chances of last hand getting there on the draw. There is just math behind it and it's in our favor there. I'd keep again. 1st game was a super questinable keep imo.
If my math is correct it's 85.04% to draw a land in 3 draws. Based on that info it's easier to evaluate that now. In hindsight yea, it feels bad.
On 1:17:30 you removed prowler and yet it showed up in your hand. I wonder if it that game would have been winnable without it. Good games.
Oh it seems i accidentally edited out a relavant part of sideboarding process. I prolly just went back and forth on prowler. Thank you for watching🙏
What a ride. Those were really enjoyable matches to watch. Cool to see how close games are on a high level, every little decision mattered
Love u dafore, u help me go to sleep every night 😂❤

I am surprised you ended up where you did. I think I would’ve for sure ended up in a bant control deck when I saw that GW gain land.
@@DJeffMTG there were not many cards worth splashing even if the mana was there imo. Control decks are dependent on removal and our interection was more tempo oriented.
In hindsight uw was better maybe. But i think the deck was relatively strong.
@ I think I would’ve taken the one luminous rebuke we saw and then the banishing light. And of course taking early white cards could’ve taken someone downstream off white so who knows how it would’ve turned out
@ yes! Not sure if one was objectively better. Just calling out where I think I would’ve ended up! I got the $2k yesterday on a RG deck and a Jeskai deck.
@@DJeffMTGthat was a good lane yea. I wouldn't wanna splash green with your rout tho. W quality was definatly there.
Post overrun Vivian could have killed the guide, and leave them with her and the biggest creature on the board, and most importantly, alive!
As always, well played.
thank you!
At 1:16:45 opponent could've just used viviens 2nd ability and destroy the artifact creature it's a big gamble he went for the 1st.
That 3 mana double 1/1 fliers is insane i lost to it draft 2 went 0-1 :(
Was gonna post same thing
Thank you for your content. Very good player ofc.But still I would like to discuss a couple of picks.
I also agree that you can have geat success with green, if it is open and other players are avoiding it. To me it seemed you soft forced it a bit probably due to recent success with green. Imo green is not forcable. And as you said in this format I agree you shouldn't force anything, just let the cards flow and draft reactively.
P1P1 Clear Bouncer
P1P2 Here I really like Rebuke over Downfall. I think it's just a better card. And Downfall looks so nice but really isn't special in black with Eaten Alive, Bake into a Pie and Stab around aswell. On top white is deep and blue white is one of the strongest archetypes.
P1P3 Elve is tempting, but also clear Banishing Light for me (Especially after I picked up Rebuke).
P1P4 NIce! First Signal for me that blue probably is open
...
P1P7 You keep talking about green :-), but besides the elf you really didn't got passed anything special in green. Tatyova means nothing to me in the sense if green is open or not. She isn't as good as it looks and it would put you in one of the weakest archetypes if it isn't completly open. Voyage I like one copy in my blue deck and you can always pick it up very late/ later on. So to me it's the Evolving Wilds. Not with the intention of splashing, which is very rarely the correct decision I feel like. I still really like it in the normal two colour decks (Usually up to 2 copies).
After Pack one it is only clear to me that blue is open. The rest is unkown. For pack 2 I will mostly take either a blue card or just the best card in the pack. And see what flows. The second colour doesn't have to be open from both directions. We just want high quality cards. We can easily end up with 14-15 blue cards and 8 strong cards from another colour. If I have a clear maincolour somtimes the second colour will be determined even as late as in the middle of pack 3.
So in pack 2 i really wouldn't take random green cards over good blue cards or better cards in another colour.
P2P1 I'm never taking the elf here. White rare or Arcane Epiphany is what I'm taking.
P2P2 Think twice perfectly fine, or Felidar, depending how the deck looks exactly.
...
P2P4 Think Twice or Tolarian
P2P5 I love the draw three. But I get it with your deck in UG you want the voyage more here. Depending how white I'm at this point and if I already have a Draw 3 I might take the Cat Collector.
ofc after P1P8 the analysis gets more and more blurry, since your picks will highly affect what cards will be passed to you.
Keep up the good content! Would love to get some feedback on where you could get behind my logic and where you think I could be clearly off.
Cheers
I was more going from the logic of eliminating which colors didn't come around pack 1. And beside blue only few decent green cards wheeled. That's why I talked so much about green bcs it was the only logical signal (not a strong one). No notable white cards came around so I was hasitating to porsue that pack 2. Thank you!
And don't get me wrong I love think twice but a tempo deck is no place for a card like that. it's completly negative on tempo. But yea I had to make a decision and build on something and I went with a tempo build. Could completly see doing something else. I just think settling on a vision of the deck is important and sometimes you do it somewhat in the dark - which was the case here.
U r really good player but magic is also about luck and u got very unlucky in this run :D. Good video nonetheless hope your channel will grow bro :)
Thank you!🤓
I went 0-1 in draft 2 :(
Magic is cruel sometimes. Still a great run!
No buccaneer on the early picks?
i actually agree with him that shark man is better (and the top player data agrees) altho i wouldve tried to force a UW deck in this seat maybe i dunno it was a rough draft
It's mid at best
@@charhurhur while i'd play the card, i don't like taking it high. Blue has plenty of card advantage, but it often gets outaggroed and 4/3 flyer for 5 is a liability in those games.
