This one though feels like the story that is now being told is not yours, but of the new main charachter forced into the same situations as you had. But, instead of trying to stop them before its too late, instead of trying to discourage them, you decide to step in and teach them all the wrongs you have commited when the story was yours, so that they do not have the same fallacies. And it works, the main charachter accomplishes the goal that you had failed to achieve, the story finally has its happy ending. although acknowledging it was not your story that had such a joyous finale, you smile, knowing that you can now rest. All your failures forgiven, all shortcomings fixed and now finally be able to move on from the seemingly endless downward spiral you had stapled your self to. But, instead of trying to stop them before its too late, instead of trying to discourage them, you decide to step in and teach them all the wrongs you have commited when the story was yours, so that they do not have the same fallacies.
