This is the best shout out to Fossil Fighters I never expected joshscorcher to have a chance to talk about the merits of this games mechanics not to mention the great designs the vivosaurs have based on their findings, names, and their history FOSSIL FIGHTERS SHALL NEVER DIE IN OUR HEARTS!!!!
Might want to add Ripto to the downgrade list. Even though I think he's an overrated villain to begin with (he's really not that funny, he's a big wuss when he's vulnerable, and his goons big and small are all the same high level of buffoonery, seriously, did the residents of the places he invaded even have any security at all?), I will admit I did find his debut boss fight mechanically engaging. However as he continues throughout the GBA titles, he practically does the damage for you. In Season of Flame he leaves the powerup gates in his arena for you to break his new defensive spells (instead of taking them down to eliminate any chance you had), all the way to Attack of the Rhynocs where…yeah I don't need to describe his incompetence there.

Glad to see Dynal getting the top spot! He's both my favorite character because of his story, and least favorite because of his Dark Souls level difficulty
If Pokemon Legends Arceus is set in an old enough time period, and if Hisuian Avalugg, an older variant of a Pokemon partially based on an Aetosaur is enough of a prehistoric creature to qualify, then I'd say the Noble Avalugg fight in Legends Arceus is one of my favorite examples of a prehistoric boss

I actually recently rediscovered my long lost copy of Fossil Fighters champions, and it’s like reuniting with an old friend. Fossil Fighters and Spectrobes were, and still are games that I will always hold in the highest regard
Ah good to see the greatest game series finally on a list and not a one-off mention, fossil fighters is my favourite game, (second to it’s sequel fossil fighters champions) and I 100% agree with your choice here, dynal Is the king of dinaurians, and an unforgettable boss fight, that’s all I have to say, hope the game gets a remake!
So… Just a small correction. Dynal’s DNA seeds died 600 million years ago. During the Cambrian period. So WAAAAAAY before even land creatures became a thing. The ironic thing is, he is not even DISTANTLY related to dinosaurs since everything that contained their DNA died millions of years before. Meaning he’s also even more ancient than dinosaurs, too.
While I am fine with Anjanath getting a highlight, I am a bit surprised good ol' Deviljho wasn't picked. The mighty pickle is basically one of the scariest T-Rex type creatures and ever since it was added it's been a terror to fight while also having impactful lore.

Watching this video reminded me of the arcade game damage quest where you play a mother T-rex who's after humans who stole her eggs, she has to eat constantly to regain HP

Rarely get to hear about Fossil Fighters, I honestly didn’t think it would make your list. But to see it not only was included, but has what you consider to be the top prehistoric boss. Puts a smile on my face, on top of hitting me with heavy dose of nostalgia. Thanks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for covering something I have been PRAYING to happen ever since I saw my first VG bosses video way back when. Also based on the ending of this vid, are you doing DEVIL bosses? HOPEFULLY you have Samael from Darksiders on there somewhere. He is my favorite boss from the franchise.
Considering the nostalgia critic used that "Tough Mama-Jamma" jig for the Jurassic Park Review and part of the "Top 11 Dumbest LOTR Moments"...depends on your POV.
I was so ready to come down here to the comments after the honorable mentions didn't have Fossil Fighters in it anywhere, only to let out an actual excited squee when the #1 segment started. Love seeing this franchise recognized, wish it was still alive
The Tideripper from Horizon Zero Dawn is a good pick. A giant robot plesiosaur which you fight on the water. The creature looks sick and I love how the theme sounds.
I know Resident Evil 6 gets a lot of (undeserved) flack, and that this boss isn't technically prehistoric, but the second phase of Derek Simmons' fight, where he transforms into a massive, skeletal T-rex, is such a fun and over the top part of the game that I feel it at least deserves an honorable mention.
I really didn’t see the number one spot being from the game series that I consistently say is underrated. Please Nintendo/Spike Chunsoft, give it a reboot.
Here's a fun Top 10 you could do, Knights! Everything from the Chivalrous and Honorable Holy Knights who serve their king with the might of god to the Dreadful and Dangerous Dark Knights who slay those in their path
I knew that Fossil Fighters would be somewhere on here, but I only played Champions, so I had no idea what a trip the first game really was, and definitely didn't know about Dynal.
Given next month is October, he’s doing Devil Bosses next up, but for creatures and species, I would’ve just preferred Ghost Bosses given that ghosts are a typing in Pokémon…
Tundra Mammoth from Epic Battle Fantasy 3-5. This beast hits like a truck with ice and earth attacks including a mammoth stampede. In 4 and 5 it becomes a type of enemy and hits just as hard
Fossil fighters is probably one of my favorite series, champions is probably one of my favorite game, and ZongaZonga was probably my favorite boss from that game lol
Kinda surprised you didn't include the V-Rex from the King Kong game...then I remember it's just a-larger-than-normal T-Rex that can easily beaten down by the Giant Monkey.
im legit suprised Deviljoh wasnt chosen or mention Dinosaur King But suprised and happy to see Fossil Fighter still surprised that ninja and dinosaurs fight
I'd like to give a shoutout to the JRPG Lost Odyssey and it's Prehistoric boss the Dinozaoro. I carnosaur like monster that is found frozen in ice and uses a really interesting gimmick. It has the ability to randomly change your party formation which can result in your physical attackers being in the back unable to attack and you magic users in the front where they are likely to get chomped, forcing you to use a turn to fix your formation to be effective again.
I bet you will finally do The Top 10 Final Levels! Examples: Deja Vu All Over Again (Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time) The Moon (The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask) Cortex Castle (Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time) The Moon Kingdom (Super Mario Odyssey) The Dominion of Hate (Live A Live) Suicide Mission (Mass Effect 2) Firefly Lab (The Last of Us) Utopia City (Spark the Electric Jester 3) Lab Discovera (Kirby and the Forgotten Land) The Everdawn Basin (Dust an Elysian Tail) Promise me that you will do this countdown! It’s something I wanted for a long time!
Honestly Anjanath being the monster hunter rep for this countdown actually surprised me as I thought you would use Tigrex or Diablos but you surprised me with this.
Huge tip! While fossil fighters may be a rarer game now, you can easily pick up fossil fighters frontiers on the 3ds! Its not the cheapest 3ds but i like it as a pokemon clone. And me saying i like a pokemon clone as a huge pokenerd holds some weight. Its a really interesting game weird with a much deeper battle system then pokemon.
Honorable mention for me: Patchy the Cybersaur (Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue) You gotta fight a cybernetically-enhanced Ankylosaurus that has missle launchers on it's back with a pair of boomerangs, 'nuff said.
Loved seeing Monster Hunter! Also kinda surprised the Thunderjaw or Slaughterspine from Horizon didn't appear even as honorable mentions I mean sure they're robots but one is based on a T-Rex and the other on a Spinosaurus. Although if you don't count those a bosses, though they are bosses in Cauldrons one in Zero Dawn and the other in Forbbiden West, then fair enough that they weren't even mentioned (plus again I guess robots)
Not sure if mecha dinosaurs count also the one problem with the Horizon games a lot of the bosses aren't really bosses seeing as most of them do show up as regular enemies.
@@SnazzyjazzBro that is true you encounter them often and freely but technically the Thunderjaw is the 'boss' of Cauldron Zeta and story wise in Forbbiden West the Slaughter Spine is the 'boss' for Cauldron Gemini (and one other boss fight during Burning Shores) but I see your point, technically they aren't bosses.
I agree, Papa Scorcher. We need more than just T-Rex bosses. BRING ON THE SABERTOOTHS! Edit: Also, I know it's a franchise that's not gonna get a whole lot of talk for ages, but can we get your opinion of the Top 10 Gauntlet bosses? Or, have you already done that?

Fossil Fighters is Number 1, I can die happy
Seeing fossil fighters get rep makes me SO HAPPY. That game is one of the best I’ve ever played, and the most fun experience for a kid.
As a Fossil Fighters fan. I feel validated
Bosses from Fossil fighters and ARK are the ones I'm hoping to see on here
Considering the nostalgia critic used that "Tough Mama-Jamma" jig for the Jurassic Park Review and part of the "Top 11 Dumbest LOTR Moments"...depends on your POV.
I'm really a big fan of prehistoric so this was one awesome top 10 list 🦖
I'm curious of Josh and his wife do a Digimon count downs of there favorites
Sweet 😁 a prehistoric boss video can't wait to see it
"... got their planet galactused by giant pacman..."
You mean a langoleer?
Some bosses that come to mind are all from World of Warcraft: Horridon, Oondasta, Thok the Bloodthirsty, King Dred, Rezan, Old Serra'kis, and Skum. 🦖
🎶 HOLY F*CKING SH!T!!! IT’S A DINOSAUR!!! HOLY SH!T! WHAT THE F***********k?!?! 🎶
Oh hello (didn’t know you were a Josh fan before?)
I knew that Fossil Fighters would be somewhere on here, but I only played Champions, so I had no idea what a trip the first game really was, and definitely didn't know about Dynal.
I'm sure you'll have to try either Top 10 Bear Bosses or Top 10 Moon Bosses
Given next month is October, he’s doing Devil Bosses next up, but for creatures and species, I would’ve just preferred Ghost Bosses given that ghosts are a typing in Pokémon…
@@thetalltitan2235 Though, other than that, there is a lot more lore than just Pokemon references
Tundra Mammoth from Epic Battle Fantasy 3-5. This beast hits like a truck with ice and earth attacks including a mammoth stampede. In 4 and 5 it becomes a type of enemy and hits just as hard
Can't remember his name, but the caveman ghost from Luigi's Mansion 3, who possesses a T-Rex skeleton on display in a museum.
Fossil fighters is probably one of my favorite series, champions is probably one of my favorite game, and ZongaZonga was probably my favorite boss from that game lol
Kinda surprised you didn't include the V-Rex from the King Kong game...then I remember it's just a-larger-than-normal T-Rex that can easily beaten down by the Giant Monkey.
im legit suprised Deviljoh wasnt chosen or mention Dinosaur King
But suprised and happy to see Fossil Fighter
still surprised that ninja and dinosaurs fight
Drinking game: Take a sip of water every time Live a Live gets an entry on one of Josh's lists
MICROWAVE SOCIETY REFERENCE GUUUUD
I bet you will finally do The Top 10 Final Levels!
Examples:
Deja Vu All Over Again (Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time)
The Moon (The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask)
Cortex Castle (Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time)
The Moon Kingdom (Super Mario Odyssey)
The Dominion of Hate (Live A Live)
Suicide Mission (Mass Effect 2)
Firefly Lab (The Last of Us)
Utopia City (Spark the Electric Jester 3)
Lab Discovera (Kirby and the Forgotten Land)
The Everdawn Basin (Dust an Elysian Tail)
Promise me that you will do this countdown!
Its a really interesting game weird with a much deeper battle system then pokemon.
never thought i would see jude from microwave society in a joshscorcher video as an ad segway.
When you said "T-Rex with a head cold" I thought it would turn out to be ice powers. But no. It's snot.
“Holy fucking shit!, it’s a dinosaur!, Jesus Christ!, What the fuck?!?”
I didn't know you knew about jimmy and the pulsating mass! That game is so good
The Red Eye King from StarFox Adventures used to scare me when I got to that boss fight. Mostly because of the environment where you fight him.
Appreciate the Sega Jurassic Park Lost World arcade segment.
I have a suggestion for a countdown. Bosses that need a damn hug
Honorable mention for me:
Patchy the Cybersaur (Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue)
You gotta fight a cybernetically-enhanced Ankylosaurus that has missle launchers on it's back with a pair of boomerangs, 'nuff said.
Speaking of Prehistoric themes, have you guys ever heard of Dinosaur King?
Me! Me! Me! Me! I Have!
I expected Odo and Black Tyranno in the list... And I'm happy to see them!
There's my clever girl Anji!
Also good to see Fossil Fighter getting attention, really hope a new one happens dispite Frontier killing the series
I'll be honest remembering I used to play Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters Frontier makes me feel old
Wow a Prehistoric Bosses countdown without any from the Turok series. That's really thinking outside the box.
sounds like Oceanus was the main inspiration of that squid monster in the animated Kong Netflix show
Dang mentioning fossil fighters makes me wish for a new game.
That sneeze sfx had me in stitches
The added sneezing noises for the Monster Hunter entry had me wheezing
Seeing fossil fighters get some recognition today just makes me so happy!
