  • Hi this is Matt with Two Way Direct and I'm coming to you from our warehouse today and we're going to show you our two-wire surveillance kit. It's the RLN5318A TWD, and as you can see here, it's got a push-to-talk mic, an alligator clip on the back so you can clip it on your lapel, and it has a nice solid push-to-talk button here for easy communication. If you go down to the cabling here, it has a quick disconnect, so you can just simply turn your acoustic tube and pull it out and easily replace it. And this is handy for employees. So each employee can have their own acoustic tube which is, I believe, 2TWD on our website under "Essential Accessories." In addition to that, we also include a memory foam ear tip here, which is good for extended wear and noisy environment. In addition to that, there's also a nice little alligator clip here at the base of the clear coil.
So, if I'm wearing this on my ear and it falls out, it won't go all the way down my shirt. It will stop it right here. It's got the standard Motorola 2-pin connector, which is referred to as an M1 connector, which several of the Motorola radios share.
So, we have a CP200 here, so I'll just demonstrate how it goes into the radio. So go ahead and plug it in here and see I'm pushing it pretty lightly and it's kind of stopping there because there are 2 grooves there. You really want to push that in hard for a good connection there. Otherwise, you might not transmit or receive, depending on how poorly it's plugged in. And then if I turn this on, it's good to go and it recognizes the earpiece, so you always want to plug the earpiece in with the radio powered off, or else it won't always detect it. In addition to the CP200, these can work on many of the other Motorola radios that share the M1 connection, such as the BPR40 here.
To demonstrate, the same 2 prong connection, and then we'll just plug it in there firmly on the side of the radio and power it on. Many other Motorola radios share that M1 connection such as the CLS1110 CLS1410 RDX series and a number of other Motorola radios.
So again, that's our RLN5318A TWD earpiece and we'll be back soon with another video from Two Way Direct.

Could you get two of these and hook them together and use them like a set of earbuds for an MP3 player?

Did this to circumvent a "no headphones" policy at work once, with the open-air earpieces. Just find a pair of earbuds with thin ends and use heat shrink tubing to connect the input end of the clear plastic tube to them. Sound quality will suffer, but it'll get the job done.

Bit late, but hope this may help any others that might be wondering the same thing: no, it won't. You need a Kenwood-style connector, which I believe has the two pins reversed.
