White Zombie contains arguably lugosi's finest performance, he is truly evil in his characterization. He has clearly the best lines , he is totally focused. Plus the atmosphere and incredible camerawork make white zombie so unique.
I have this on one of my Mill Creek 50 Greatest collections; it's by far the best movie on the disk set. Absolutely love the atmosphere and the respect it gives to the idea of zombies. Bela Lugosi is at his creepy best here also.

Old movie. Referring to the people of Haiti as "natives" and saying the "natives" had brought their practices from Africa. So how are they natives? I guess because they are not White? I enjoy seeing how life was portrayed in past times.

its a shame the the morality codes of Hollywood screwed us out of more creepy and macabre films such as this. Morals are good to have and we need standards but the amount of imposed censorship on films in this era was crazy and truly robbed us of many grate and more complicated plots and such. many films in this period would have been better had the codes not been so severe. but this is one of my favorite films of the period.
