- I made a bed in the back of my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country. I apologize for all the "umms" and other weird words I say and talk like haha.
The bed is 52" X 72" (4'4" X 6') when fully made. Single is 26" wide. The under neither height is 12" for storage.
First, excellent condition on the Jeep. Next, one of the best demo's I have seen on setting things up for the night.
Jeff, I understood you very well for sure. I have a 98 XJ, and I am planning on something like this myself. Thanks.
a cherokee with leather seats,now that's rare!!!🔧🔩🔧
The limited trim models all come with leather seats :D
They are everywhere!
That XJ is in beautiful condition
Thanks man! I like to take care of my things.
Jeff Wolsleger I can see that! :)

Great video and awesome set-up! I don't have an XJ but I really like this design.
Best sleepin set up iv seen so far
Nice work on the conversion. Well made video. Gives me ideas for slight mods for your construction.
Nice build! What bumper/tire/can carrier are you running?
Very cool indeed! Thanks for the upload!
You're welcome and thank you as well!
This is absolutely amazing!!
this man is brilliant!!!! keep it up sir
Excellent design!
Nice video man
Wow, that thing is complicated!
sweet build man.
Thanks Nick!
Cool set up i have a 97 and i love it
Pretty slick, do you happen to have measurements/dimensions for the separate pieces? Thanks!
No I do not sadly. I can not remember off the top of my head but it was a build as I went and custom fit for it.
You should measure your pieces into a cut list and give basic directions. Put in a file and sell online for 9.99. I am sure you would get plenty of buyers.
Very simple but takes quite some time to trial and error. Nice job.
And the best part is that you dont have to "modify" the Jeep at all. It can all be taken back out at any time and no one will ever know it was there. :)
Cool build, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jedi!! Got any extra lightsabers?
Just curious did you buy new seat or wrap the old ones? those look nice
Thanks man! No dude, those are the stock seats! Pretty good condition hey ;)
thats pretty cool, I wanna do one of these for my ZJ.
Do it up! It is a pretty simple/easy design but takes a creative mind to visualize it. You could do it!
great job!
nice jeep
Thanks man!
sweet
If you had the 97-01 cherokee, you would have to deal with dreadfully small benches
Haha. But with the 96 have to deal with the deeadful in between engine parts haha
Jeff Wolsleger
lol!
they arent just small benches, they are ejector seats
How much did it cost you in total?
I really do not know fully. Not a lot. I would have to guess under $200 CND
You wouldn’t happen to have plans or any measurements would you?
Sorry Michael. No plans or full measurements of this build :( The Jeep is up for sale and really should do a write up on it before it goes because I have been asked multiple times about it.
Man, A Lot of thought went in to engineering that system ! Great Work !
Great video. Very well-done; very creative design, great narration, easy to follow. love the hinged platform. And , to add to a previous comment, the Jeep is in beautiful condition.
Im going to go for something like this but im 6'2 so i need like 6'6 of room to be super comfortable , might have to modify the passenger seat or something.. thanks for the video cheers mate!
Thanks man! If it was a two door Jeep seat it would fold forward more and then I would of been able to make it longer. An idea for ya!
Dave2D Vlogs Either way I've see people just remove the passenger seat and have their sleeping arrangements either use that space once it's leveled out to the back (your feet sit lower in the front than the back seats) or use it for other things, saving space in the way back.
if you're still trying to figure this out my idea for the cargo bed was to make a platform for the bed fold out of the rear with the hatch open and have a drop down tent/tarp drop down from the bottom of the hatch and fix to the bumper or platform.
Such a sick conversion! Did you notice any wear and tear from the wooden legs supporting the bed? And don't apologize for the way you talk man. You sound fine (:
Thanks, Man. I currently live in a 6x12 cargo trailer pulled by an F150 pickup. But I have a 1998 XJ that I want to start using in addition... allowing me to go places I can't go in my truck and trailer. Great ideas!
Wow. What an immaculate xj.. seroiusly beautiful. I want those seats so bad in my 01.
Very cool 😎 -but buddy that jeep is super clean!
So it sleeps 2 but "lays" 4
Thank you.
dude well done!
AWESOME
looks awesome man!
Thanks dude!
That’s a sick set up man!! I have been wanting to do something like this to my ZJ for awhile but wasn’t sure if it would leave room for my dogs or not because I have 3 large dogs .
Great fucking job man I'm impressed
Nice!! I have a 96 too I love it
I'm impressed ,good job dude
Nicely done! Your seats are nicer than on my 98 Limited - sweet. Are they original equipment? That last shot - Wow - room with a view indeed!
They are original seats! I sold this XJ though and currently have a 4Runner. But this XJ was a beauty and hopefully the new owner takes just as good care of it!
Well thought out , good job
