that’s funny. I was thinking the same thing but I was daydreaming about my trip last year heading north. I was thinking about going north again this year, but it’s just not in the cards trying to deal with all the permits for the spring cabin. It’s almost a full-time job. I was hoping to make it to Alaska this winter but there’s always next year lol I suppose there’s always Mexico too but what would I do down there?
It is nice seeing that you have the snow & I don't. LOL I heated our boat with a diesel heater. It was a straightforward install. Worked outstanding. Kept the boat consistently warm and removed the condensation issue we were having. You just had to get use to the ticking of the fuel pump. Was kind of neat when it would start, sounded like a jet engine. The portable fuel pump is cool.

The good news is I don’t hear the clicking inside the fifth wheel, but I would assume it’s just something you could get used to it doesn’t seem to be too loud. I didn't know if it would push the air that far down the pipe, I seen others that put to long of pipe & the heater would shut down in over heat mode because they couldn't push it out, Glad it's working well ! Hi Don, thanks yeah when I was setting this up, I wasn’t too sure how adding that pipe would work, but I do have it angle upwards. This may help but at - 18 I'm maintaining +5 at the lowest setting not bad yeah these batteries are gonna come in handy for my shop solar system. Thanks for watching man. I appreciate it.

That battery’s bms is really helpful. Like you I’d be stressing about the battery life. I used to get maybe 36 hours max from my lead cell battery and be frantically charging before nightfall.
it certainly is I just checked before replying and I am at 24% left so this is now nine days of runtime on that battery. It’s incredible and that is straight actually no not true. I shut it off yesterday for 3 hours. either way, pretty impressive and the fact that it can be hooked up to my phone and not have to crawl under there to check it out. It’s pretty handy.
Hi, thanks for stopping in so these batteries you cannot use in a vehicle there’s no cranking. They are mostly designed for solar systems smaller motors like trolling motors on a boat things like that so far the heaters working well and my floor is toasty warm as my pipes are too.
Hi, thanks for stopping in. Yeah, some of these heaters are hit or miss. This one seems to be working well fingers are crossed the battery seems to be doing pretty well. I haven’t charged it yet and it’s on its 10th day I just checked and it still has 8% left if it’s sunny, I will hook up a panel to it today and see it. thanks for subbing. I appreciate it.
@@exploringmybackyard I've got one of my CDH connected to 2 princess auto deep cycle batteries, 300w of solar, and a cheap pwm controller. Haven't needed to charge it at all this winter, even when it's cloudy for days. My other heater is connected to the house batteries, only need the second one on below -15°c.
@@exploringmybackyard The pwm controller doesn't really tell you much. Not like my victron house battery controller. It records everything and is very user friendly
@MaritimeUnprepared I have a couple like that too. I’ll have to look up the Victron. I have to pick up a new one for my cabin solar build. User-friendly is good. I hate complicated.
Glad you didn't need your back up plan 😊 appears to be working well. Are you able to close the door/hatch (where your batteries are) into the base of the van so not as munch heat is escaping. Thank you for sharing.😊
yes, so far so good no, I can’t close my hatch. I don’t want to drill any holes, but it seems to be working OK with it open so far but we’ll see what happens when we get colder temperatures fingers crossed

I saw the charge percentage of the battery but I was looking specifically for something that said solar (what's coming in and going out for usage) Did I miss it?

I’m still sitting at around 50% after a week once the battery dies I will hook it up to solar, but I have this type of batteries before and full on sun, it will take a good 8 hours with a 200 W panel
@ you’re actually right cause I did talk about solar panels at the beginning of the video but just trying to drain it. I can’t believe how long this battery is actually lasting. It’s hard to believe I guess there’s not very much draw from the heater though.

I am confused on what the long white pipe under RV is going to? I assume just underneath the RV? You may want to make a wind brake for fuel tank just to be safe. Do you have a separate solar panel for that new battery? Good install.
@@papatomsthoughts the white pipe is just an extension off of the heater duct just to push the heat down towards my wall pipe under the fifth wheel. That’s a great idea for the fuel tank. I don’t want it to gel up in colder temperatures. I have a separate solar panel for this battery, I will be putting it on today as the battery has just hit 5%
I agree with you, but I am prepared if there’s one thing in this world that I hate that is mice I have 14 traps set. I also have 13 sticky traps set. I’ve caught three so far in the last month I think I’m doing pretty good. fingers crossed they’re telling their buddies not to come in lol I really really hate mice but I hate frozen pipes even more
that is a true statement. They do have some new safety features in them now but still have to be very careful with these types of batteries for sure. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

Yeah, we replaced our regular propane furnace with the diesel heater and I love it.
yeah, me too. It’s so easy and such a beautiful heat no moisture like propane.
