Developmental Milestones are skills that children achieve by certain age, move forward & progress through life. These developmental skills happen in 5 main AREAs, namely --
○ Physical (Gross & Fine Motor)
○ Speech & Language
○ Hearing & Visual
○ Socio-emotional
○ Cognitive
Most children achieve these milestones in the given time frames. However, some may lag in a few skills here & there. This lag or delay is known as DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY.
Sometimes, it may be present in more than 2 areas together. Then we call it GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY (GDD).
