Gerda, thank you very much, you are so inspirational. I am 72, getting back to painting after my early training as an Art Student and I keep going back to your videos for the great techniques they teach us.
Gerda, you are the highlight of my day! Thank you for being so generous and share your wonderful art, and your knowledge of interesting effects and techniques that are all so inspiring to us.
Gerda, this is WOW 😮 WOW 😮 WOW 😮. Utterly stunning and gorgeous and breathtaking. As I look at the last picture of this painting I really can see a face, on the right hand side. But it’s got such a lot of depth and detail. And I’m sure you can see something different very time you look at it. Thank you so much. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love your videos! Thank you for putting in the English subtitles. I am incorporating this technique in my recent work, it works great for the beginnings of backgrounds, your videos have been such an inspiration to me. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the English subtitles, it is so nice of you ! I still like he volume on because I like to hear you talk ! You have such a cute voice ! Thanks GERDA for everything. I love creativity too.
Gerda - guten Morgen. Super video. I really enjoyed this. The depth is beautiful and I am definitely going to give this a try. It looks like a coral reef. Vielen Dank.
Wow. Another fantastic video from you Gerda. Thanks for the English subtitles - great help and also love listening to you speak in German. Thanks so much for sharing. You are a wonderful artist and I've been watching you for years! Cheers, DEB T
Thank you, this technique and the plastic wrap technique have been inspiring me. And the technique of transferring an image with a plastic cover was eye opening for me. wonderful ideas, inspiring more creativity... thank you, thank you, thank you
Tanja
Hi Jan, I think the craquelure is because I paint in layers. Since I don't let the individual layers of paint dry out for a long time (because they shrink a bit), but continue painting when only the surface feels dry, there are then different layers with different shrinkage behavior. This can cause layers of paint to tear and cracks to form. This process is intensified by warm air from a hair dryer, but the paint adheres well after drying.
I’m in British Columbia Canada. I have found with purchasing prepared canvases, they spray with a sealer and sometimes miss spots. I always prepare my canvases to avoid these spots because the colours changes and difficult to fix
Gerda, does the art exist in the mind before you paint it onto the paper, or does the art emerge as you stroke the paper with the color? Or is it both?
Can someone confirm with me the American art supply store equivalent of Gerde's "binder." I'm mot sure if binder is gloss medium? Matte medium? Novaplex?
I need clarification as well. I wondered if she meant a clear gesso but then noticed she grabbed the binder bottle, or I even wondered if it was acrylic or watercolor grounds w/water. Matte medium would give it some tooth to grab good color I would think.
Okay, just found this on an art site...BINDER: the nonvolatile adhesive liquid portion of a paint that attaches pigment particles and the paint film as a whole to the support. So...this would mean clear acrylic.
Hola Greda!
Hi from Texas. Could the cracks come from the brushstrokes with the Gesso and Binder? Also why did you seal the paper with two different sealers...Gesso and Binder. Thank you so much. PottheryMom
The cracks usually develop, when tension builds up in the contracting acrylic layer when the paint dries, then it tears sometimes. In this case, I find it even desirable. I partly primed the surface with Binder, partly only with Gesso. The drip technique reacts differently on both substrates, that was the intention. Greetings Gerda
dear gerda how do you make your binder ? my binder is too white , when I mix the binder with paint , my paint becomes too white ,and not translucent which I value more
Theoretisch sehr viele.
Hey Your are doing marvelous work I have a request, if you kindly mention the concept behind your paintings then i would be great. Just a one line messgae Please🙏
Another wonderful video, Gerda, with such interesting and colorful results! Were you happier with alcohol drops in the area over the acrylic medium or over the gesso? Would you choose to use one or the other next time? And thank you so very much for the English subtitles! Hearing you in German and reading what you've said is the best of both worlds. I always learn something new and am excited to give it a try.
Vielen Dank
Gerda Lipski thank you for your fast response! I'm a beginner, trying to understand the science behind mediums, and their uses. you're amazing and gracious to share your knowledge with us! thanks again!
Thank you. Great choice of color and simple technique. Did you seal the canvas between the two layers of paint ? I know you sealed it before starting the work, then between the two layers of paint also ?
Hallo Gerda, deine Techniken faszinieren mich immer aufs Neue! Könnte ich die o.g. Technik so auf Leinwand arbeiten? Meine mit dem Alkohol? Schon mal danke und weiter so. LG Birgid

The crackle effect is wonderful, that is what I am looking for with my acrylic painting on glass.

Thank you so much Gerda for sharing your knowledge and skill with us. Very generous of you. Hello from Cambridge, UK.
Beautiful, thank you for sharing your work!🌸💕
looks amazing! how do you make the binder please?
I purchased it online
Beautiful! I am looking forward to see the video of the crackle effect.
Not sure, but is the cracking effect due to the binding not holding that paint together.

Gerda, does the art exist in the mind before you paint it onto the paper, or does the art emerge as you stroke the paper with the color? Or is it both?
I´ts a little bit of both:)

That´s right.
Could the same result be achieved with 65% white glue and 35% water? As paint is basically made from glue… @@JoanneSala and Gerda Lipski
Could you share what acrylic "binder" is? Is it a matt medium?
It´s acrylic dispersion, you can use medium either
Such depth! I love it 😍
Thank you for subtitles!
Hola Greda! Me encara tu trabajo

You may use acrylic medium instead

have you tried sprinkling some calcium carbonate or marble dust (same) for crackle effect?
It looks like you use homemade binder. How do you make it? I mean what are the ingredients?
No, I just fill it up into other bottles. Don´t make it.
That's brilliant
dear gerda how do you make your binder ? my binder is too white , when I mix the binder with paint , my paint becomes too white ,and not translucent which I value more
Hi, I don´t "make" binder, I buy it. Alternatively you can use gloss medium
thank you very much for your response Gerda .
Frau Gerda. Das ist wunderschön. Grüße aus Polen
What is acrylic binder? You use Gesso on the top but don’t know what you are using on the bottom. Can you explain in English please

Vielen Dank, Elli.
Is this on canvas?
sorry it's papier
love your video! could I use a bit of glaze medium with my paint before adding water to slow the drying speed? would that be helpful?
Hi Hannah, if you use too much binder, the technique doesn´t work, if you use only a little, it´s o.k.
Gerda Lipski thank you for your fast response! I'm a beginner, trying to understand the science behind mediums, and their uses. you're amazing and gracious to share your knowledge with us! thanks again!
stunning :) and thank you for the english addition :)
Hi! Tolles Video!
Thank you. Great choice of color and simple technique. Did you seal the canvas between the two layers of paint ? I know you sealed it before starting the work, then between the two layers of paint also ?
Yes you can seal the layers in between with binder.
you might wish to try YUPO?
Wow. Nice. Thanks for subtitels
