Whats so sad and disappointing about these high prices in console gaming, is fewer and fewer kids will get their first gaming console. Parents can’t just shell out 1k for a gaming console whilst grocery’s are insanely expensive as well.
Eh parents will do a lot for their kids or else anything marketed for kids would not sell enough to produce because obviously kids don’t have money to spend they ask their parents.
Parents will go back to older consoles that maintained a reasonable price. Kids will probably complain about how Timmy from school has the newest console, but parents will make something happen.
Kids these days only want to play Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft or horrible phone games anyways. You can play them on plenty of affordable older PCs, older consoles, even on older tablets & phones... They'll be fine!

Most recent console I bought was ps4 pro for a really good deal. Most ps5 games are on PS4 same with Xbox 1. This gen has no new games worth playing. It was a complete joke. The technical upgrades on slight graphics did not justify the price. 😂😂
For me that has been one of the reasons I still have it out. RUclips and Netflix run well, but it is so nice to use my physical media with; from cd's, dvd's, and blu ray's. Although, I haven't used it for the past year or so, but that is more an issue of needing a new tv more than with the PS4 😂.

@gojordan_yt it wouldn't feel better lmao. The ps4 pro can run games a ton of games at 60fps while ps4 is locked at 30fps. SSD doesn't automatically change game performance on older games. Just faster load times.

7:18 my friend has an xbox one s and i have an xbox one x, we tried playing fortnite multiple times and my internet is not stable and not that good of a connection so even with the stronger hardware it still took over a minute to load while her one s loaded in under 20 seconds because her internet is stronger and faster, when i say internet im talking wifi.

I sold my PS4 this year which was primarily used as a Blu Ray player / Streaming device and replaced it with a Xbox One X. I have my PS5 in the bedroom used to play both PS5 and PS4 games so why not change my entertainment device PS4 to a One X which is 4K and gives me the option to pickup X1 games.
I bought my PS4 slim brand new around the middle of 2017 and now with a 2 TB SSD in it plus a 4 TB dedicated external HDD - I can say I am happy where I am at. There are still plenty of niche games coming out on the system, some even with physical copies for the PS4 that you can order from Playasia or VGP. My backlog of games on the PS4 both digitally and physically is huge, so I am in no hurry. Speaking for myself when I think about the PS5 and where its at in 2026 there is only about a handful of games on it that I am interested in. One of them ROBOCOP was supposed to come out on the PS4 but that is another story. With that said not dropping $400-550 on a console that's rent and grocery money plus bills etc especially in this economy. For those that can more power to you, i hope you can enjoy it to the max.

@gtgolm I find this is a problem with a lot of RUclipsrs. Many of them act like people buying into older/slower tech all have the same wants as someone buying newer stuff. Not everyone is interested in newer games, especially with as many as are released incomplete with paid DLC, paid content, forced live services, etc. Many people are perfectly happy playing older single player and local multiplayer games that won't even require the console to connect to the internet. And, the PS4 has a lot of great single player games.
Yeah this is what I always think. There's hundreds of games under $10, and a lot under $5. Just saw a lot of 30 PS4 games for like $150 and included Doom, FarCry games, Star Wars games, etc.
@SciFiDude79 One thing to note - about 10% of the PS4 library requires you to connect to the internet for a basically mandatory patch or mandatory download. Doesn't cost anything, just worth mentioning especially in the long run, in case the services ever go down.

As someone who only owns two laptops with integrated graphic cards I must say that having a PS4 Pro in 2026 is worth it. I'm running Linux on it and I basically have access to the internal 1060 equivalent GPU. I can play more than 3000 PS4 games and now all the windows ones as well as using it as a PC. 100% worth it.

I don't understand why people don't save up money. I saved $20 a paycheck for five years and got a PS5, Series X, Panasonic UB-820 and a 65" LG C3. Even at my poorest point when I was living in my own apartment making minimum wage I still saved up to get an Xbox One back in 2013.

As stated by many others...you can most definitely score a ps4 pro for 100$ and sometimes less, often with games. If you have a sata ssd laying around or sitting in an old pc it makes for a great experience. GPU is around 1060/ rx 580/ RX480 level and cpu is around a ryzen 1600 maybe.
CPU is comparable to athlons of FX series, hence most games running in 30 fps. People found a way to unlock fps and on a pro you might touch 60 in locked 30 games.

I have a base PS4 that a buddy of mine gave me almost a year ago. He just upgraded to a PS5 and felt bummed out that I was still rocking my old PS3. Once I got my switch 2 on launch day, I pretty much all forgot about my PS4. One of my favorite games on the PS3 was the Wipeout HD/Fury compilation. When I found out A couple of weeks ago that there was an upscaled collection that came out for the PS4/PS5, I instantly discovered why I love my PS4. I don't need the absolute latest and greatest and I still find relevance now in my PS4

I installed an SSD on the One X back in 2020 and it really made the console snappy. I still use it to this day next to my PS5.

@scottrocks1993Not "free". You play an ONGOING subscription for the TOP TIER. Physical (DVD and bluray) can well well outside of 20 years depending on storage. And cartridges last even longer, but sometimes the battery need replacement. Take you 'Pro Digital/ Own Nothing' nonsense elsewhere, kid.

As for physical, dvds, blurays and even cartridges last significantly longer than 20 years depending on how they are stored. Some might need batteries replaced (cartridges). I have VHS tapes from the 1980s that play perfectly with no degradation and cartridges from the 2600, and Gameboy eras that do as well.

@PartyUpLivedo it!! Its so easy to look up fb marketplace in the area and get an old console that probably just needs a usb update but is considered "broken" to the seller. Ive gotten over 40 consoles and never paid more than 100 and have even gotten some for 10. 4 ps4 for 10 each. Not at once. But close enough lol

As someone who only owns two laptops with integrated graphic cards I must say that having a PS4 Pro in 2026 is worth it. I'm running Linux on it and I basically have access to the internal 1060 equivalent GPU.
I can play more than 3000 PS4 games and now all the windows ones as well as using it as a PC.
100% worth it.

I have a PS4 & PS5. I am waiting for Steam Machine to upgrade the PS4. Then I will look into homebrew options on my PS4 it already has a 2TB SSD.
I love that PS4 can swap HDD/SSD that OS install on, Unlike PS5 that have build-in SSD for OS and if it die it mean nothing can do

I don't understand why people don't save up money. I saved $20 a paycheck for five years and got a PS5, Series X, Panasonic UB-820 and a 65" LG C3. Even at my poorest point when I was living in my own apartment making minimum wage I still saved up to get an Xbox One back in 2013.

I love stories like this. I work a shit minimum wage job, with awful people, and the job SUCKS but at the end of this year Imma have $100,000. My co workers laugh at me because I always joke, "when I get fired Imma buy a little plot of land in the south and buy a tiny home or rv and set it right in the middle". As stated by many others...you can most definitely score a ps4 pro for 100$ and sometimes less, often with games. If you have a sata ssd laying around or sitting in an old pc it makes for a great experience. GPU is around 1060/ rx 580/ RX480 level and cpu is around a ryzen 1600 maybe.
CPU is comparable to athlons of FX series, hence most games running in 30 fps. People found a way to unlock fps and on a pro you might touch 60 in locked 30 games.
Only use to watch Blue-ray Have to turn sound way up due to the ps4 sounding like an airplane.

I have a base PS4 that a buddy of mine gave me almost a year ago. He just upgraded to a PS5 and felt bummed out that I was still rocking my old PS3. Once I got my switch 2 on launch day, I pretty much all forgot about my PS4. One of my favorite games on the PS3 was the Wipeout HD/Fury compilation. When I found out A couple of weeks ago that there was an upscaled collection that came out for the PS4/PS5, I instantly discovered why I love my PS4. I don't need the absolute latest and greatest and I still find relevance now in my PS4
