How exciting! And yes maybe your friend should do a blog every now and then! Thanks for taking time from school to share a little bit of your life! God bless you! ☺️
Hi Sophie, I'm very happy for you! 🎉 I am currently a sophmore in high school and really want to pursure the violin as my career. I started the violin when I was 10, but never had a private teacher. A year later, I started doing group lessons, but did not see much improvement in my playing. I starting playing with an orchestra 1 year ago and really like it. I don't know many solo pieces. I would like to see if you have any concerto recommendations for me? Maybe some I could play for a college audition. I am not a beginner nor am I an advanced player. Thank you so much, you really are an inspiration! ❤
Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words! That is also so exciting that you may want to pursue violin. It is very hard for me to recommend specific pieces just because I haven't heard you play, but some of my favorites that aren't too (technically) difficult are: Mozart Violin Concerto no. 3 in G major, Bach double violin concerto, and perhaps the Bruch or Mendelssohn (these two are harder). I really hope you can reach out to someone in your community (any music teachers or orchestra director) that can help mentor you and give you more specific advice, since they also know you as a person. Wishing you all the best! :)❤
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I will look into them. Also, what repertoire, including scales or arrpegios, did you play for your college audition? Do you plan to join a professional orchestra or something like that after college? I just want to get an idea.
@@lauramunos4951 Of course! I played the Bach G minor Violin Sonata no. 1, movements 1 + 2 (Adagio and Fuga) as well as the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto (mvt. 1). I was not asked to play scales or arpeggios for the places I auditioned at. I did have to prepare etudes, though, and I prepared Kruetzer 32. Honestly, I don't totally know what my plans are after college yet, but a professional orchestra is definitely one of those goals :). I would also love to teach and perform various ways, whether it's orchestra, chamber, or events (like weddings, musicals, etc). I hope this helps!
Omg thats awesome, i've always wanted to rent a house with other music majors since starting college, but i'm not sure how am i going to do it financially or finding the right roomates, because they could be your best friends, but not clean people. There should be a balance of both and that where i'm strugling, but thats a 1st world problem😂😂. Anyway, How were you able to find the right roomates? And if you don't mind me asking (you dont have to answer this part) how are you managing to pay rent and be a music major at the same time and how are you doing?
Hi! Yes, that can definitely be a problem! I was super lucky and met my roommate by living in the same hall our freshman year, and decided to live together from year 2 onwards. As for rent, I am very fortunate to have supportive parents who help me out generously. I do have friends who work one or multiple jobs to be able to pay their rent, and it can definitely be time consuming/tiring. Everyone has a different experience, but I think it is definitely possible to do both! I won't speak too much about it, though, since I can only speak to my own situation. I hope this helps!
Like that reading piano lamp on the side table next to bed. Real light or led? I have the basic reading lamp with the green glass hood like shade. Note that tupperware specifically the plastic is suppisedly the culprit for infertillty among married couples. Saw on PBS that it is of epidemic proportions and mens blank count is affected. Being at johns hopkins i thought i might share this caveat so maybe youll be cogniscent of the health risk. But its your choice how you wish to habitate. Hope your intelligence takes precedence over any reservations you may have regarding the subject. Great apartment and you seem to be at peace with your body image which you have commented on in a video. I am not always pleased with mine but theres always Noom . i bought their book. Yeh.
