  • Happy Easter! Jesus Christ is Risen!
Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the savior of the world. As Christians, we believe that God made us and the world for His enjoyment as perfect representations of his power and glory, but because of our willful rebellion against Him, we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, the only just resolution to our sin being eternal death. But through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and his perfect life, death, and ultimately victorious resurrection from the dead, we have salvation from our sin and are restored to right relationship to God if we repent and trust in Him as our savior. The life we now live is one of great joy and humble submission to God, his very Spirit dwelling in us and sanctifying us as he carries us home to eternal life with Him.
Ephesians 2 paints this story as such: “and you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now at work in the sons of disobedience-- among whom we all once lived int he passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-- by grace you have been saved-- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. and this is not your own doing; it is the grace of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
This is the gospel that we celebrate on Easter, and it is the good news that we celebrate as Overflow A Cappella every single day! We hope that this song encourages you to look to the cross in worship this Easter season (and quarantine season) and treasure the great gift of salvation that Christ has won for us.
