Dont get the map! These tips are useful without a map :
1. Get to the passenger's car
2. Do not cancel it, just save your game automatically and done

How do i get the fire escape key

I mean it depends on where you're at in the game but it's on the 3rd floor. You have to trigger that scene where Laura kicks it away from you then later you'll be on the other side of those bars and you can pick it up.

I've never had that glitch with Silent Hill 2 before. Are you using an emulator or something?
