If you do this to your bike just be aware that you might find you have problems with fuel lines when you are done adding more weight just to tell you what gear you are in. The Scrambler has a lot of bike squeezed into a small package and thus getting the tank on and off is a bitch of a job. Just be aware that those fuel lines leave the tank on the opposite side to that which you see moved up (the left side) here and they are easy to pop off leaving you with no fuel going to where it needs to reach. How do I know this? Look at the amount of work I did to my Scrambler ... ruclips.net/video/e6eWCgjb7B8/видео.html
Albe, just wanted to say I followed this to a T and the instructions provided in the package were indeed garbage... THANK YOU SO MUCH for the detailed step by step. Wouldn't have been able to do this without your help.
Great video!! I just followed you, step by step and installed this same gear shift indicator on my 2016 Icon. Had no issues whatsoever. Thanks so much!
Great DIY video Alberto. Installed my gear indicator on my 2016 Scrambler as you explained and it was a perfect add on as you mentioned. Thank you for the content 😁
Albe. You make perfect films about working and repairing the Srambler Ducati. I learn a lot about my machine. Do you have the possibility to make such a movie about new timingbelts on a Scrambler? I think that a lot of people woud like that.
@@AlbesADV True. The thing is my first bike(a 1984 BMW K100RS) had a gear indicator so after that you are pretty much spoiled. Sadly most other bikes after that didn't have it and I always miss it.
for what exactly? every bike i've had has never had a gear indicator. i've yet to see why i'd need another thing on my dash to stare at. the only time it seems to make sense is maybe on the track? and i doubt anyone is racing with a scrambler.
You can get an LED headlight that bolts on just like the OEM setup on eBay for about $150 , no need for any extra brackets. Seems like a much needed upgrade
I almost went for the motodemic headlight, but I liked my evotech headlight protector too much. Plus this one uses the OEM plug. Interested to see what you change in the future
I've got the same gear indicator... you helped me calibrate it! It works well! Thanks for sharing Albe! Lemme know if you'd like to see it... (cannot share pics over comments)
Thanks for your great video!!I've done a mistake and is counting until 5th gear....do you know how to reset the indicator and to start a new setup?I hope you can help me. Thanks!
Hi thanks for your video. Im getting a 2018 Ducati monster 797 which has the same engine as this scrabler. You think i can use the same indicator? Can you show me the link of this indicator?
Thanks Albe for the nice video. I bought one for my 2017 Ducati Scrambler Icon, the only problem is that it can"t seem to learn neutral.. Any ideas? Thanks
Awesome video!!! Quick question do you think its possible to replace the gage cluster-instrument panel from a 2017 scrambler cafe racer and install the 2019 instrument panel instead ? I just dont like the looks of the 2019 cafe racer.
Probably not, look at the connector in the back of the gage cluster, they should be different from each other and I don't think cutting and splicing is a good idea. Ride safe 😀👍
@@AlbesADV I finally found it. It had a cap so I wasn't able to find it at first. Although ever since installing the gear indicator, my bike sometimes turns off on lower gears.
@JackMihoff6969 it definitely shouldn't do that. Did you try disconnecting it and see if the problem persists? The gear indicator is read only shouldn't cause any rpm drop or power issue unless there is a wire crossed 🤔
@@AlbesADV Sorry I did not have a translator at hand, what I wanted to know is to set the gears one should raise the bike to some type of machine to put the gears and accelerate?
Mine starts normally, with the "L" blinking, then it goes to "1", and it never goes up :( It stays stuck on 1st gear in learning mode. I even tried resetting it (turned bike on and off 6 times and all that), but it's still not working :(
@@AlbesADV Yes multiple times, it always gets stuck blinking on the first gear.. Tried giving more rev, less rev, etc.. Nothing seems to work. Maybe mine is just faulty..
Albe, Thank you for these amazing videos about the scrambler. there's not much out there. Could you help with cheap way to reset the oil service light? (2022 1100 scrambler dark pro)

Thats cool. I’ve always wished the bike had gear indicator. Guess that will be my next project. Thanks.
Just a quick thanks for this video, fitted a gear indicator to my Scrambler this morning, really informative. 👍

Nice job! All bikes should have a gear indicator. I'm glad the 1100 Scrambler(and the new 2019 800's aswell) has one included in the dashboard.
I agree, in this day and age it doesn't take that much.

I would like to know if i can do the same way for the ducati monster 1100 2010? as for the yellow red hose that should sit in the yellow one?

How did you attach the velcro to the back of the indicator? Adhesive that came with the velcro, or superglue?
Just the adhesive that came with the velcro

DUCATI Data Acquisition > DDA. As always great informational video Albe. I have a 2019 Scrambler Icon. What exhaust would you suggest as a mod?
Hi John, I like the Akrapovic gp Slip-On, but it's quite expensive.
Hey, Albi. Do you mind sharing what brand of gear indicator you got? Thanks!
it was a while ago, I think it was IDEA, there should be a link in the description

Do you have any knowledge of a temperature indicator available to install? I really wish to find a solution

I don't, for anything specific for the Scrambler, you might want to take a look at the TrailTech website, good luck 👍

Yes, I lifted the rear wheel with a bike stand, you can also do it by riding a long straight road and going through the gears that way.
You made me lol.. thumbs up
Thanks JERREMY DMAN, if you are hanging around RUclips at 2:30pm California time I’m going to do a live stream 👍🏼
Why do you need a gear indicator other than neutral ?
Because I get lazy or simply distracted and I can see what gear I'm in at a glance. It's definitely not necessary but it's convenient at times 😀👍

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing enough for the residual change to completely run out, unfortunately there is no literature about this
