hey guys!! i hope you all enjoyed watching me struggle to set up a new tank for some fish. I plan on getting platys and cory catfish to start off since ive had them before and they make great community members :) lets hope this one doesn't flop because if it does, i'm officially retiring from fishkeeping.

My husband who use to work at Petco said:
~Don't use paper towels to clean. Get the magnetic scrubber for the glass. Where it cleans both sides at the same time.
~Invest in a heater (depending on the fish) even if it is a low temp heat to help.
~Get a larger filter than what the tank requires. Therefore the filter isn't working too hard but it can handle what it is given.
~Always rinse filters before use because they have extra charcoal/carbon that should be rinsed off.
~Always rinse anything that goes in the tank first, sand/decor/rocks etc.
~Check alkaline etc every week.
~Don't put moss balls in.
~Get algae eater to help.

Add the moss balls now, and let your tank cycle for 4-6 weeks before adding fish. You need algae to grow etc ❣️

You need to make sure the filter is cycled, if you add fish before it is cycled the bacteria in the filter won’t be able to properly process the waste, one way you can do this is adding a little pinch of food everyday to feed the bacteria and when the tank is stable you can add the fish.
I also suggest you watch a fish channel, and if you want to do a planted tank in the future I definitely suggest @fishforthought

The gradually adding the moss balls before the fish like you said is a good idea, just to see if it is them causing it. The filter I believe should be rinsed before first use but I do not think that would cause your fish to die....although I'm not a pro either so...there's that. Lol

Did you have your baby yet? I love your video's my beardie just died she didn't shed for quite some time and eventually she stoped eating do you know what happened
No, not yet! He’s due July 27 so I still have some time :) and I’m not sure to be honest. I don’t wanna give you a wrong assumption, I’m not that experienced or knowledgeable when it comes to bearded dragon death causes. You could always ask a vet or request an autopsy! Sorry for your loss, losing a pet is always hard ❤️

hi taylor. i have had my baby beardie for about 3 months now and she seems to be fine with her tank, but i do see her glass surfing soemtimes. i'm worried about her and she doesn't really like me holding her anymore. when i first got her all she wanted to do was be held and she hated her tank. she is fine with it noe after i added some plants and tried to make it more comfy for her but she still glass surfs soemtimes. so when she does i try to hold her, but she only lets me pick her up sometimes. if she shows any signs of being scared i leave it alone and see what will happen and she usually just goes on with her day. soemtimes she will let me hold her but she will be very jumpy and try to jump off of me which scares me, and soemtimes she will be calm and let me hold her with no trouble. im worried about the glass surfing and that she isn't very social yet and it's been a while since i got her. any tips/ ideas on what's bothering her?
I think I would ditch the moss balls. Whatever killed the other fish could transfer from those to your new set up. Just my two cents.
I have a lot of pets and I never had luck w fish either. All of my other animals are healthy.

Just FYI don’t buy new moss balls if you were thinking about it. A RUclipsr named Harli G has a great video about the moss balls. It problematic.
