  • Circuit Park Berghem Karting - On March 25th 2017 Advanced Racing Project drivers Olaf Stofferis, Justin Rotte and Berend Stofferis finished first in the ‘2 Hours of Berghem’ endurance race held at Circuit Park Berghem. This video shows the complete race footage. The race took place on the Euro Final layout, and the team used kart #4 (type: eco).
    Race Report:
During the week before the race, the complete racetrack had been resurfaced, leading to slippery conditions. The available kart, driver weight and track temperatures each contributed more noticeably than usual to the grip levels available, meaning that lap times differed considerably between the 45 competing teams. Qualifying went adversely for team ARP: the kart originally assigned had really low grip levels, and none of the team members were able to set a competitive lap time. The team ended up securing the 29th place on the grid and from this position there was not much to lose. Therefore the team decided to switch karts during the final moment of the qualifying session. The new kart, #4, proved much better: at the end of the first lap, Olaf Stofferis had already improved to 7th position. His rise through the field stopped when he reached 2nd place at the end of the sixth lap. The team in front, Q-tox1/Spring Racing, showcased superior pace and managed to open up a 30 second lead by the time of the first pit window. Justin Rotte replaced Olaf Stofferis for the second stint. With consistent driving he kept the gap to the leaders around the 30 second mark. Justin Rotte's pace was evident from the fact that he posted the fastest lap of the race during lap 63. A few minutes before the end of the second stint, the race leaders Q-tox1/Spring Racing got involved in a pitstop incident. As a result they received a controversial drive-trough penalty, handing first position to team ARP. Around sunset Berend Stofferis took over driving duties from Justin Rotte. Track temperatures started to drop in the dark, leading to increased lap times across the field. Even so, Berend Stofferis had especially trouble finding any sort of grip and was unable to settle into a rythm. His lap times were off-pace, but fortunately the lead over the rest of the field was comfortable. After two hours of racing, ARP finished first with a lap to spare over the runner-up team Karrewiel.
