Just got this bad boy in the mail this morning...right after I got back from my early morning run lol. Nearly blinded myself unlocking and playing around with the settings. Excited to use it on my next early morning run!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it!
Picked one up when you recommended it in your Holiday Gift guide. Gearing up to hopefully do my first 100 miler in 2021 (maybe the Midstate Massive!). So now is good time to log some night running.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!
Been looking for a new headlamp. Might have to pick this up
It's been great so far. I've only charged it once and it's been out on lots of runs with me. Some reviews on amazon say there's long term durability issues but it feels pretty solid to me! Thanks for watching Ko! Keep crushing!
When there is Fenix and other brands that offer replacable batteries with longer constant battery life I don´t see a reason to save those 20 bucks and go for this. It may just be due to market shift in the recent years so maybe this review is simply dated in 2023 and later.
I have a Coast RL27R headlamp which is also have a rear safety red light.
My last couple of headlamps have been Petzl Reactik+ and Petzl Swift RL. I really like the way they automatically adjust the brightness based on the ambient light. It's stop you blinding people, and means your not wasting power when not required.
The auto-light level is really nice. Wish the Biolite had it! Thanks for watching.
Hah. Just bought this after having used the BioLite 300 for short runs. I'm excited to try the trickle-charge feature for long overnight runs. If it works out OK then I may use it for a couple of 100 mile ultras in 2021.
Oh awesome! The 300 looks really nice as well. Thanks for watching!
Headlamp light is good. The clips on the battery pack for the straps broke on two different lights. I wouldn't buy again.
Interesting. I’ve had mine for 2 years with regular use and it’s still going strong. Though lately I’ve been using the Petzl RL NAO
I really like the rear facing blinking light. That’s a game changing idea. Is the battery replaceable or just rechargeable?
It's replaceable but only with the proprietary pack that comes from BioLite. It would have been cool if they put a USB C connector or something on it so you could swap it out with any battery pack but that's not the case. I also wish I could toss AA's in it in a pinch! Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit can you link to the proprietary pack? cannot find it. I have the biolite 330 and can't find a battery replacement. That's my biggest downside with this brand
@@sotimak6554 I don't think it's available online to purchase. I think you'd need to ask Biolite directly for a replacement. I'm not even sure if the cord can be unplugged or not or if they'd need to refurbish it. It's unfortunate but with such a large battery and the ability to run from a USB power source it's not a show stopper for me.
I wish you would put out more content. Only 5 videos in 5 days - shameful :)
😂
I was support crew for a buddy doing a hundo and I turned off my light on the trail for second at night just to see how dark it was. Super scary. I kept thinking, what if my battery dies. I'd probably still be out there on that mountain. So I say keep at least two ready to go if you're out on the trails at night.
I typically keep a spare headlamp in my vest for that very reason!
Hi, great review. One question please? Can the flashing rear light be switched off when running so just the front lamp is on?
Yup. Thanks for watching!
Very informative whilst still being enjoyable.
I like the battery life, but I prefer a strap over the top of your head like on the Nao+. The Nao+ is also very well balanced and has some more features. But it costs a bit more.
Those look nice too. I actually dislike the strap over top because it tends to slide around on my bald dome! Thanks for watching!
Bought one of these, thought the plastic adjustment clip on the left side was factory installed in reverse on mine.. but noticed yours was the same way. Must be a design feature I don't understand, it was the same on another review as well.
Oh strange, I hadn't noticed that. Hasn't caused me a problem and I've used this light a lot since this video was posted.
The red backlight and trickle down brightness settings are noteworthy. I was going to get the Petzl Iko but it has pretty poor brightness settings - only 100 or 500, but it might be enough for short road running sessions.
The Iko looks nice and light weight. But I really dig this biolite 750! Thanks for watching.
Looks like a good value. The weight distribution and battery life are important to me. I should probably get a rear blinker since I oftentimes run on some low traffic streets at night and could use a little peace of mind. Well, I added it to my Amazon wish list so maybe I'll get lucky this holiday season. Thanks for the review.
It’s a solid light. I won’t run without rear blinkers in the dark anymore... too risky! Thanks for watching!
I wanna get this but they are just very expensive 😢 but thank you for the review tho. Good job on the video.
They're on sale right now for around $75 bucks but yeah... not the cheapest headlamp. geni.us/lGGau
You need to check out the Lumonite Compass R. Bright and really great burn time. A class above anything else that I have tried. Probably the most popular head lamp amongst Swedish ultra-runners. We have tough conditions and looong nights up here.... Did a 45 mile over-night trail run recently, did not need to change batteries for the 9 hours that the run took.
Whoa cool! I’ll check it out.
lol glowing review
Haaaaa!
My favorite feature in a running headlamp is the ability to put the battery pack in my running vest. It cuts down on weight and helps keep the batteries warm. Otherwise this looks well thought out. Thanks for the review.
Interesting. Which headlamps offer that? Thanks for watching!

Nitecore HU60 (have not tried) but I had the discontinued HC70. I have also had the petzl neo with the extended cable. The petzl duo s also has the capability and may be my next headlamp, quite pricey though.
Hi. I have been using many different head lamps. And there was always something wrong. Too weak, too strong, too wide, too narrow... Once I decided to try reactive lighting from Petzl. It was first generation of NAO. When I took it for the very first trail run... It was like never-ending WOW symphony. There was no too wild path, that NAO would not light with proper beam of light.
It is never too bright. Your hands are always free. You don't have to click anything (e.g. in warm gloves).
And I have been using it for more than 5 years now (if you ask me about the lifespan).
Referring to the stuff you present. It may be really okay for road running. In trail... I doubt. It's too basic. You need different type of light to watch terrain directly ahead you and different one for searching the closest turn (or to find out, what caused the sudden noise in the forest...). Different ground reflects light differently. With NAO it's not a big deal.
And regarding the back red light. For me it's just a gadget. Simple but professional high visibility garment like a vest for 2$ or so will make much better job.
I've heard good things about those Petzl lights but haven't tried them yet. Seems that the adaptive light tech gets mixed reviews but I'll try to get my hands on one to try first hand. The IKO Core looks really cool too! Personally when I trail run I just leave the light on "high" setting thanks to its super long battery life it's not an issue. Clicking the on/off button is easy even with gloves on.
The Blinker on the back is certainly a gadget but I like that I don't need more crap to worry about to get out the door. I have been using little LED blinkers for years and they're great but if I forget to throw them in my bag for a run after work it's a bummer! The blinker on the BioLite is also incredibly bright too. There's a lot of great products out there for running at night. At the end of the day the consumer has a lot of solid options! Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit Do it! Have a try, but take NAO+, not some cheaper Petzl offering reactive lighting. Of course you can chose other, stronger units offering 1000 lumens or more, but... The case is that leaving constant light on "high" is not a universal solution. Please imagine that you run over patches of ground covered with snow, then jump over dark frozen mud, and snow again... Or you run up more steep sections. The ground is so close to your face then and bright light starts to blind you. Not mentioning when you want to check your phone or garmin. The light immediately goes down up to e.g. 5 lumens. Then you look around using all those 500 or 700 lumens. It's incredible and it's much safer for your eyes. And finally You feel like kind of wild, night animal. It's really great feeling :)
Does the red or blue light on the back stay on when in constant mode? Or passtrough mode i want to use it for backpacking amd wildcamping and having a light on the back isnt really great the
You can turn the flashing light on or off independently from the main light.
@@ChaseTheSummit also in constant mode or passtrough mode
Pretty close to perfection to me, except for the light spread. So I decided to go for the Petzl Swift RL just 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to a future model from BioLite with a light spread that I can work with.
Did you want a wider spread or more focused? Hows the Petzl?
@@ChaseTheSummit need spot and wide at the same time actually...works for my slow pace and poor night vision on ultra trails. The Petzl is not perfect but close enough and works for me. This BioLite's design concpet though -- its something else!
Ordering now, thanks for your review. And the link!
Awesome! Hope you like it!
amazing! i saw it in your video my trail running stuff and now im totally sure to buy it
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Got to say my led Lenser XEO19R pumps out 2500 lumens and is perfect for running in the woods I think it’s been replaced by the H19R Core which has a excellent battery life too it can be adjusted for angle and set to optisense which adjusts to the ambient light, there are a lot of good lights out there and the exposure lights take some beating too 👍🏻
Very nice! I'll have to check that out!
Is this a spot or flood light?
It has both!
