Still looking forward to seeing you try out the P-47s improved engine and flight model. I also have a weird request, unless it's something you have already done, I would love to see you take out some older aircraft like the 109F4 against modern Normandy/Bodenplatte aircraft in multiplayer (or any other "what if" earlier aircraft against the stuff from 1944/45. I'm really curious how it and you could perform in more "obsolete" aircraft, would the lack of speed make it too difficult or would you be able to make up for that in increased maneuverability?
The engine model wasnt improved on the P-47. The Thunderbolt will appear again on the channel at some point when I get an entertaining sortie don't. Be that soon since Combat Box goes eastern front again today. The F-4 would perform well against enemies who would try to maneuver against it. Even the Spitfire isn't safe. Everyone else who knows his business will keep speed and distance from the F-4. Most missions on CB do not feature old obsolete aircraft. I personally dont see myself doing that since there are enough similar setups where this disparity is already the case and is historical. For example when fighting Bf 109 F-4s and G-4s in La-5s, Yaks etc. Or the Spitfire 9 against the K-4 and G-14. Fw 190 A-8 vs P-51s. All aircraft are either equally or more maneuverable but significantly slower than the opponent in straight line or climb. The disparity cant be "made up" with maneuverability. This wasn't the case historically and can't be in game. Speed is the main attribute of a fighter aircraft.
@@SheriffsSimShack Thanks for the detailed response. On the P-47 my mistake you are right it's not the engine but flight model that was updated, although this did apparently have a fairly significant impact on speed, acceleration in dives/ energy retention. On the topic of the F-4 "making up for" it's speed disadvantage, of course I'm not saying you can magically catch or run from fights with the lack of engine performance, it's more about the challenge of it, can you as a pilot still do a decent sortie in it against P-51, Spitfires, Tempests etc, despite the disadvantage was more the point. On the F4 at least You still have a high dive speed, and then can hopefully goad people into 1 circle fights. Many pilots in game probably would not recognize the difference between a K4/G6/F4 It may be trivial for you but I doubt many players would tell the difference hundreds of meters away in the air. This was just something I thought would be entertaining to watch, decidedly not competitive, but that's the point.
@@SheriffsSimShack People on the forums were reporting the major changes in speed and acceleration in dives etc that I was referring to. However I don't have a ton of experience in the IL2 P-47 so I can't make a good judgment before and after flying it. So maybe people were wrong, do you have experience testing it out after the changes?

Excellent roll rate at any speed. Damage resistant. Handles wonderfully on the ground. Has much more range, can carry lots of useful stuff.
@@SheriffsSimShackI bet this was why the 190 was such a shock for the Spitfire Mk V…when bounced they probably thought they could derp out of the way of a fast-diving 109 but found out how well the Wurger could still maneuver.
As a VR flyer, I much prefer your vids in VR. Nicely done. 190s are rolling this campaign.
18:08 some guy flew right into that IL-2 you peppered. Ouch!
Yup. Completely yeeted into him.

@@-Zevin-The P-47 is only less stable now. climb, dives, top speed are unaffected.
Quite on the contrary the P-47 is now able to blow speed quicker.

@@-Zevin-yes its more "unstable" which gives it a faster instanteneous turn. thats a nice to have, but requires some time to get used to.
really love these new videos, keep it up!
Maybe with all your experience , you can do a compilation of videos summarizing the differences between the 190 and 109
Any chance we might see you fly some Soviet aircraft soon? I’m a bit partial to the Yak-9 so I think it would be really cool to see that.
Nice. Track IR?

@@SheriffsSimShack How are you getting that zoomed in view? I can't seem to get any zoom to work in IL2 with VR(Quest 2)

Very likely Combat Box due to Apollo being the name of their dynamic campaign system they're currently testing out on Kuban

Combat Box
I thought Fw-190 is not suited for solo dogfight😂alway got ass kicking by those turn fighter
well its not really a great aircraft for knife fighting. Its a great aircraft for fighting a "war" however.
