- We purchased a brand new Expert Grill Commodore Pellet Grill and Smoker. It was unused but had been returned to the store because of a bad auger motor. It was marked down significantly! It has a two year factory warranty and we could return it to the store ( Walmart ) if it didn't work. We submitted a warranty claim and they shipped us a new auger motor. The process was super fast, and we had the motor in 2 days. We've used the grill for a couple of months now and haven't had any issues! If you have any questions please let us know.
Great video guys, I picked up the same unit and I love it! Simple straight forward operating and this guy has delivered some A1 meats so far. Trying my 1st brisket on it for the 4th. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! That’s so good to hear! So far we have really like ours so it’s always good to hear that others like theirs. Thank you for the comment!
Just picked the same pellet grill at Walmart today for $140.00. Can’t believe how much cardboard they used to pack this badboy.
Wow! That’s a great deal for it!
nice! any way you can do a video showing how to replace the igniter??
Got this new in box for $109. Have had it two months and control unit broke already. No instructions on removal and installation.
I had to contact the company to have them send me the part and the instructions on how to do the replacement. Hope this helps.
@@livetoencourage1223 It took three attempts reaching out them before I finally got what I needed. Ended up being the temperature sensor, even though I changed out the control panel they sent first. Was a messy job since I had used the grill for awhile already, but got it done. Still a great deal for $109. :)
I don't know if you lifted the lid while firing up your pellet grill but if you didn't always even from brand new and everytime after that lift your lid while turning it on incase you have trapped gases from ash or to much pellets In the fire pot you could get an explosion. Same with a gas bbq lift your lid before firing it up
Thank you for that info. I will be doing that from here on out on it. Thanks!
Whats the part # for the motor ? Thank you
My Walmart ain’t marking this grill down. I’m in Jacksonville fl and it’s $297.
Ours was actually one that was returned back to the store. It was only marked down because it had been returned.
Thanks, nice video. Is the temperature controlller PID?
Yes it is. But, I have noticed that it will sometimes be a +/- 5-10 degrees from set temperature. Say for example, if I have it set at 250, it might be showing 255.
When does Walmart have these sales lol? I keep looking online and they're all $300+. Really like this model though, can you tell me around what time you bought it last year? Was it around some holiday or sumn? Thanks!
The only reason this one was this price was because it was returned by a customer. This one we had to replace the auger motor before we could use it.
Waiting to find this price locally. They still have them full price at my store. Not worth it for me at full price. At this price I would be pumped.
Yea, I guess I probably wouldn’t have bought this one if it was full price. But having said that. I still think that it is a good deal for the money.
One Walmart near us (north Atlanta suburb) has these and PitBoss and several others 50% off right now, new in box. Got the Commodore for $150. At another nearby Walmart, they're not on sale at all. You may want to call around.
@@cathammer7661 Thanks for the tip! I'll be calling around. I am also debating just calling our local walmart and telling them the sale price to see if they would honor it.
I thought about doing the same with garden plants this summer. its the end of July and they are still trying to charge full price for cucumber/tomato plants. I always like to buy marked down plants late in the season to try to squeeze some produce out.
Just a heads up I bought this one for $160 today at Walmart brand new! So check out your local walmarts!
@@shelbyheberling7207 Awesome! Thanks for the heads up.
Where do you find the model number
So I think I let the pellets get wet in my grill. Do I need to purchase a new motor or do I just need to do a cleaning?
I would just try cleaning it first, and then if it still didn’t work then try replacing the motor.
Maybe I missed it, but what keeps the motor/auger assembly from sliding in or out horizontally? Looks like the motor is just resting on that small shelf.
There is a set screw that holds in the auger bushing which holds everything in place.
In your opinion, would it help laying down foil to catch drippings? LOL, I want clean up to be easy as possible. I've seen other pellet smokers where drippings hit the metal shield and slide into a grease catcher. But, I've been around long enough to know that only happens in fantasy land.
I don't think so. I have not had one flare up with it yet. Everything seems to drain very well right into the grease trap. When I was looking at the design of it when I first got it, I thought the same thing, but have been very impressed with how it works.
@@livetoencourage1223 I should have mine delivered very soon. Pellet grilling will be new to me and I am quite excited to do the whole "set it and forget it" thingamajig. Thanks for the comment.
@@equallywrong Yes! Thank you for your comment. I have enjoyed ours this far.
Has anyone had trouble getting the metal grate at the bottom part of the hopper off? Several screws that I was trying to get off of the hopper as well as screws on the metal grate at the bottom were either stripping or were turning endlessly without unthreading to take out. Seems I’ll have to break the screws or the metal grate to get to the auger which is what I’m trying to do. Rain caked the pellets in the auger well, keeping it stuck.
Anyone have any tips?
Thank you.
I had the same issue with one screw. I was able to pry down while unscrewing to get it out
This is a new smoker and it's at my local Walmart I am just wondering how long this company will be around and if there will be parts readily available for years to come it's on roll back and it's very cheap at my Walmart for a smoker I have a treager right now so am unsure of what I should do
Yea, I have wondered that myself. I called the company ,and we had parts in just a few days under warranty. I was very please with the customer support. So far it has been good.
Can you do low temp smoke in it ? Like fish or cheese
I am not for sure. What temp would you set it at? I have done a steak at 225 for an hour and it turned out perfect. I think it can go as low as 80 degrees. I will try and do some testing on this in the near future.
This pellet smoker is highly dangerous. If it stops burning because it thinks it is too hot already, the auger is still piling up pellets inside. After reigniting the fire the pile of pellets will smolder and then burst into flames, setting the whole smoker including any grease inside on fire. Happened three times to me, fortunately I was around to hose the fire down with water.
Can't post a photo in the comments, but mine looks like a burnt down car with the whole front burnt off, paint burnt off. If I hadn't been around with a water hose, the whole house could have burned down. I will not operate this smoker again, it is just too dangerous.
How much was the replacement motor?
I don’t know how much the motor was cause they just sent it to me for free because it was under warranty.
@@livetoencourage1223 thx for the info.
Cool
I had mine for about 2 weeks before the auger gave out. I finally got the new motor, but they didn't send a link to the instructions to disassemble it. could you post the link? also great video, it was very helpful
When I called the customer service department, he said he would email me a link for it. I must have deleted the link from my email since doing this repair.
How do you contact the company and which one is it that makes these? We purchased one and are getting error code when clocking on the power button and the fan comes on and that is it.
I used the app to contact them for support
@@zaya187 Yes you can use the app.
If you have your owners manual, they have their number listed in the back of it. 855-256-2160
I talked to them they said it's not under warranty since it was already built and out the box
What site did you use for the replacement
They don't have website that I know of. We just called the customer support number that was in our owners manual.
@@livetoencourage1223 could you post that number due to I lost mine
@@JoseGarcia-tj4ks Here is the link for the manual. There number for customer service is in it as well. Hope this helps. manuals.plus/wp-content/sideloads/expert-grillcommodore-xg1136224169002-manual-optimized.pdf
