Gustavo Santaolalla: Soft Descent | Inextinguishable Flames + TAB

While Inextinguishable Flames is the prototypical riff from The Last of Us Part II -- Soft Descent is more reminiscent of Gustavo Santaolalla's work on The Motorcycle Diaries. The latter is quite possibly his greatest soundtrack.
With this piece, the low hanging fruit is everywhere. Santaolalla plays guitar and composes like a wide-eyed child just discovering the instrument. When arranging his music, I sense no ego whatsoever in his riff-ology. I find this to be the biggest challenge with my own music writing; the more you learn, the more you become bound by it.

Your interpretation of Gustavo’s music and specially his Last of Us tracks are absolutely gorgeous ❤️.
If i May suggest a song for future, “de usuahia a la quiaca” is the piece of music played at the end of The motorcycle diaries while we are shown pictures of elderly people whose sad faces have unique stories to tell. So, if it’s possible just take your time to check it out, i believe it’s worth adding to your unique Gustavo collection.😊

Thank you Eric! I'm just a wannabe, carbon copy of Santaolalla. I'm on the look out for an opportunity to meet him though. The pandemic has stifled all of his public appearances for now. He was walking around the NAMM show with Gibson guitar last summer -- so that might be an opportunity for the future.

There is some great guitar work lurking in the back of the themes from the new mandalorian episode. Im impressed how many of the bigger themes from season 1 are being weaved in subtly. Immediately my wife was like "this sounds like that youtube guy you always play!"

Hey Evan, do you take any suggestions for your arrangements? I was listening to some of Gustavo's earlier music and I really loved the guitar intro in 'Suite No.1 - Arco Iris'. I thought it would be an interesting listen for you anyway in the unlikely event you haven't heard it before haha.
By the way, I'm really appreciative of all your work particularly on Gustavo's music, he's the reason I picked up a guitar and I love playing his music, and you enable that so thanks!

Hello, I just want to try to ask if you wouldn´t like to play the soundtrack from the game Empire: Total War. The game has some good parts of American/Europe guitar style. I can´t find any person who would perform it on youtube. Just an idea. Wish the best
