This particular cartoon prompted me to find Shubert's Unfinished Symphony, which I found on 78 RPM records with a picture of Franz on the labels. Thanks for posting.
I knew I wasn't crazy.. I've carried this melody with me since I was 6 years old without ever knowing who the composer was, nor even the name of this Masterpiece..
Thank you for this upload, I remember watching this episode as a kid like it was yesterday and I always wondered which Schubert's symphony was this. Casper is great.
I think the last bit is missing. I recall an orchestra of ghosts and a very grand sound. But considering the fact that I watched this cartoon 20+ years ago, I may be mistaken. Thanks for the upload. It brings back wonderful memories.
Originally released by Paramount in November 1957 (in the original theatrical prints, when Casper raised the musical saw above him at the end, the scene morphed into the Paramount mountain end title- "A Paramount Picture/Technicolor"), and directed by Seymour Kneitel. Probably one of Winston Sharples' best scores...
Percebi que o final original foi cortado já na primeira vez em que vi este desenho na TV. É uma pena que não haja cópia original do mesmo, pois poderíamos ver direitinho como é que ele terminava de verdade.
Casper is totally awesome to learn and understanding the truth of friendship and caring since the Care Bears. GREAT UPLOAD!
Casper was first and then the Care Bears.
Jesus the nostalgia. I used to watch these old casper cartoons on a DVD
I watched them on video cassette
This is such a wonderful cartoon.
"They don't make them like they used to" is a hackneyed expression, but it really does apply here.
never thought I'd see Schubert in a cartoon... this is delightful.
I suddenly remembered this cartoon, which I first saw in late 1970, did a quick search and voila!
This is way better than today's cartoons
totally!!!
I don't know why but every time I listen to this wonderful symphony of Schubert's, I cry a lot. What a great composer he was...
Those were the golden days. :)
OMG, nostalgia shock because I finally found from where I first heard that schubert symphony :O damn it's been about 20 years...
I've missed Casper.
I just found it, the amount of satisfaction & relief of anxiety. Nobody believed me about these old casper cartoons.

I love the attention to minute details, likel Schubert's hands move correctly on the piano to the sound of him playing it.

3:21 : HEH HEH HEH -- Note how they cleverly put in a (slightly bowlderized) version of "Scheisse Dreck!" (Shit!).
There are more easter eggs but that one I didn't catch, nice
God..
For 40 years I wanted to know the title of this beautiful melody that replayed in my head all this time❤
I heard that music from Baby Galileo
I was looking for this, thanks.

How ironic. Casper making music out of the noise that stopped Schubert's music from playing.
This was so exciting to me when I was a very young 'un.

cartoons used to be so more intelligent.
I've heard that phrase so many times that at this point i don't believe it anymore.
@@Mattcai2004 I don't even remember commenting this and wholeheartedly disagree with myself hahaha
I used to have this ON VHS
@ 6:04 does anyone else see what I see?
The three sixes?
@zwykyziomek2570 Yes. Not so subtle..
4:40 is my favourite scene with those cars on the road and the policeman blowing his whistle at the other cars.
@fromthesidelines I always thought the cartoon ended like that, and i agree on this being Winston Sharples' best scores.
Muy agradable.
Qué belleza!
