When the animals get in there, be sure to put a dimmer switch on one light and turn it on slowly so that you don't spook the animals. I made that mistake when I had my horses, and they went nuts. I was lucky they didn't get hurt!

I never really had a chance to work with my brother, he's been gone for almost 30 years. However, My brother in law and I have worked together for most of our adult lives. We compliment each other and have fun doing it.

Al, I did notice, when you were drilling and screwing those hooks into the bottom of the roof joists, there was quite a wobble. Might it be advisable to create bracing over the length of the barn, just to ensure complete stability. Just a passing suggestion. Regards Robin....

Your skill in your projects “builds “ are outstanding and the combination of the builds and Gina’s cooking is great. Not an over abundance of talking it’s doing the work/ cooking is what I enjoy. And your one handed phone calculator manipulation without dropping the phone is hilarious. March on and thanks for your detail in your builds. Very enjoyable with a cup of coffee.
When the major builds are complete and things wind down to the routine of tending animals ("somedzy"), you'll have to build some benches, interesting chicken coops, maybe some arbor or trellis type things, a set of pantry shelves for use wherever and so on.
I must also add the background music you have choosen has increased and the pleasure of my Spotify playlist immensely. For me it is representation of life, love and hope. Thank you and keep on marching forward 🙏👍😊

Instead of one outlet cover for each box, consider covers that have two covers per box. If you leave the cover open and an extension cord plugged in for some time the dirt dobbers will fill the other outlet plug here in the south within a day or so.

I suggest you caulk along the bottom of all the inside tin. When you try to really clean out the barn, a hose is going to drive some animal waste under the tin, and trying to hose it out is just going to drive it up the inside of the tin and the base plate.
Looking really good 🙂🙂. Note on the milking station, don't forget to put in the upper stops to keep her head in the stantion while you are milking. I don't remember you adding them in at the top when you built it. 🤔 A little item but I think a very important one.

When I was a zoo keeper for all of our different hoofstock grains we had the large round plastic garbage bigs with their lids and those were on wheels so we could move them around and rotate bins everytime so that we always used the oldest feed before the new feed.
For the feed room. Put in metal feed bins. Shelves for supplies such as a first aide bin, calving bin, a shelf for free choice minerals, a med box, etc. There should be a big sink wide / deep enough for 2 buckets. It should have a small electric water heater. You need hot water for warming shocky animals, to wash your maternity kit, make milk replacer, and milking equipment, etc. Mount the med box within line of sight on the wall. Put in a table or counter so you are not always bending. A milk fridge would be nice for cooling milk rapidly and keeping your excess eggs. Also, if you need to keep meds or vaccines cool. Just a few suggestions

Love everything about the barn! So many good ideas! One safety suggestion… the cover on the panel has sharp corners. The bank of light switches is very close. When You walk in to flip on lights, it would be easy to strike a hand on that metal edge. I used a roll of rubber edge guard on mine because I had a similar installation. Your Bro is really good to help you finish the metal!

My Buddy Neil here in the UK was an electrician, I used to ask him if he could install an upgrade on a bulb and florescent tube existing poor lighting setup. and he said that when he installs & fits the new modern lighting system in my work-shops or livestock buildings. Maybe you have discussed this and I missed it. Seems it would be helpful to have ceiling fan large enough to move the air around to help control the flies that come with having a barn. Maybe you already have thought of that and have an outlet for that purposed?
Just for accuracy the metal siding that you sre using is not tin nor tin coated. You are using steel sheeting that has a paint or galvanized coating or galvanized coating with paint on top.

Quality lighting is dependent on several factors: lumen output and coloration (kelvin temperature). It's easy to google to learn about without writing a long comment here. Strong suggestion: you will eventually need to replace the lamping (fixture bulbs or tubes) - make note of mrf information while you can still read it. Replace all lamping on all fixtures at the same time or you will get uneven lighting. Too bad you went with this style of lighting - the lighting will depreciate much quicker as opposed to the round, lensed fixtures you also installed. Additionally, the electrical panel face is installed backwards. The strike side should be on the right side for easier access if you are right handed.

Al did say that that chicken stall for chicks gets a roof, so maybe a Three, Four or Five story Chicken Hatchling habitat complete with outside access when feathers are developing prior to being ready to join flock, then maybe Al's Chicks will start their grass-feeding days earlier ! Copied cause I didn't know; Pullet is the term for a teenage female chicken, while a young male chicken is called a cockerel ! I just hope that the Lumnah's are again blessed with another CWC, the free-ranging always hungry, fearless around frenzy Pigs eating from Slop bowl, C-razy W-hite C-hicken. With Full Crop, following Al's morning feeding ritual, from Goat feed CWC nudging-in taking a share, to Pig feed again CWC nudging-in taking a share, to Chicken feed CWC again nudging-in taking a share, the fearless famous CWC ! Again copied information; There is one purpose for the crop, and that purpose is to store food for roughly 12 hours. Think about it like this: chicken and other poultry consume food rather quickly, almost in a panic. Being one of the lowest creatures in the food chain makes them prey to larger carnivorous animals. The concept of “eat and run” takes on true meaning for chickens as it can potentially save their lives. I put the outlets in the ceiling pointing towards the roof. That way the thing you plug into it won’t work loose from gravity.

Quality lighting is dependent on several factors: lumen output and coloration (kelvin temperature). It's easy to google to learn about without writing a long comment here. Strong suggestion: you will eventually need to replace the lamping (fixture bulbs or tubes) - make note of mrf information while you can still read it. Replace all lamping on all fixtures at the same time or you will get uneven lighting. Too bad you went with this style of lighting - the lighting will depreciate much quicker as opposed to the round, lensed fixtures you also installed.
Additionally, the electrical panel face is installed backwards. The strike side should be on the right side for easier access if you are right handed.
It seems to be racing to the finish! What a fabulous barn-so well thought out.

My monies on an area for Broody hens to sit on eggs making Chicks, an easy access to food and water while isolated from the flock Chicken Hatchling Nursery !
Al did say that that chicken stall for chicks gets a roof, so maybe a Three, Four or Five story Chicken Hatchling habitat complete with outside access when feathers are developing prior to being ready to join flock, then maybe Al's Chicks will start their grass-feeding days earlier !

Again copied information; There is one purpose for the crop, and that purpose is to store food for roughly 12 hours. Think about it like this: chicken and other poultry consume food rather quickly, almost in a panic. Being one of the lowest creatures in the food chain makes them prey to larger carnivorous animals. The concept of “eat and run” takes on true meaning for chickens as it can potentially save their lives.

Where is the Crop Located?
