    conor has always been doing things differently. Honestly I thought the movement drills he did was some bullshit but the flow of he punches and smooth footwork is prove that he is doing something right

    • @MayaEmbas
      @MayaEmbas 7 лет назад +9

      His first loss to Nate Diaz was literally pinned on Conor focusing on things like "movement training" instead of actually working on his grappling and striking. On MMA forums the movement drills he did with Ido Portal are considered a joke...

    • @andofitness5073
      @andofitness5073 7 лет назад +42

      Ah Kinchil yea but he lost because stamina.

    • @MayaEmbas
      @MayaEmbas 7 лет назад +8

      Yeah true that, but had he focused more on striking and grappling he might have been able to land better shots and not gas. Also might have been able to get better at grappling to prevent the fast tap. He literally trained movement for almost 3 hours a day. Had he put those into grappling & cardio.. well... he certainly would have done better than having put those in movement. But sure, if he had won because of his great movement this argument would have no value so it's always easy to be smart in hindsight. But some of that movement training was just ridiculous...

    There's a study done where people were clicking little dots on a screen as a reaction test.
    They separated them in two different groups. One group who continuously who clicked the dots as normal, and another group who's mouse got inverted so it moved oppositely.
    The group who's mouse moved inverted, was proven to have faster reactions when it came back to the original clicking test.

  • @vesuvius2444
    @vesuvius2444 7 лет назад

    Hand eye coordination/reaction have always been a mainstay of boxing. The speed bag is great but when people attach a ball to their head and move around. It's a smaller target moving in different ways and he has mobility to move around the ring. Same goes for the cards. Muscles memory, creating connections between the body and mind, and getting the bod used to varied movements is all important.
    Hell, I remember Jet Li making a web dome of tennis balls connected to rubber. People will always find new ways to train and some of them will be pretty valid.

    I like the way you analysed this - it is the same realiztions i came to, this is what i do often for marketing, i reevaluate the situation in an objective base level way , build it up from scratch adn then design a strategy that can progress with all the factorials known now in new light, and it allows to be extremely adaptble and mobilized, and the benifit is outcompeting most competition. So this honestly is the best way to reinvent yourself in any industry ... as in this example boxing or mma, but the concept can be applied to anything.

      He respects both of them but more so believes in people who believe in their selves. He likes that Conner has taken on the philosophy of Bruce Lee which Bruce got from reading Krishnamurti and is about the idea of the way of no way. Not adopting any method as being the gospel truth but rather trusting yourself and your own intuition to accomplish whatever it is you set out to do. I respect anyone who attempts to express their-self honestly.

    you are 100% correct. Perfecting a craft and sticking with it as to not get rusty is 100% necessary. But only using 1 or 2 or a set number of techniques will limit your adaptability and stagnate neuroplasticity. Learning new methods within the same craft not only broadens your arsenal of skills, it actually makes your already perfected/autopilot skills improve as well. As a musician, I have experienced this countless times. Great video.

    i think this kind of training remind me when i first started doing weights. and, i read that if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, your muscle won't grow after awhile. or, it reach a plateau. that's why you need to mix it up and 'surprise' your muscles. in such things, people around us will always think we're crazy or it won't work. but, ignorance can kill if you're not careful. most, weirdos like Albert Einstein are called stupid and slow when they were young or just starting. punching cards is a drill aimed at practising to be formless, he is not flowing in a rythme and his angle's and movement are varied and often his form will be incorrect in order to reach the cards, this is practise not to throw incorrect formless punches in the fight purposely but if he is in a of balance position he can still throw a effective punch and get back in position, therefore even if mayweather is in better positions and gets mcgreger in venerable positions which he will mcgreger can still punch from these positions.

  • @MK3

    For me this all comes down to timing. The term "timing" implies the choice or judgment based on what you anticipate happening, but if you're opponent is utilizing a technique which nobody has experienced, they are unable to anticipate you, thus unable to make a proper judgement as to what to do in response to what you're doing. That's why fighters with wacky styles like Dominick Cruz are extremely effective even if everything they do is fundamentally incorrect. Fundamentals eventually become obsolete when new unorthodox techniques are designed to beat them, then with time, these new unorthodox techniques become the new fundamentals, and the world of martial arts keeps evolving.

    The cards are for timing , concentration , not rushing a punch. Helps to prevent reacting every time a feint is given by your opponent , you dnt rush as soon as you see it.
