Used mine for the first time night … despite using dry logs it was ridiculously smokey … also find the whole Solo system seems to be a money con … the pit was reasonable, but once you start adding the accessories, (lid, tongs, grate, base, etc) the price creeps up significantly- jury is out. Will persevere, but sadly, first impressions were pretty underwhelming

The accessories do get pricey. Try making your fire bigger. The flames really need to get up to and run strong and hot through the air holes at the top. I made the mistake of making too small of fires when I first got it and had the same issue. It’s always going to smoke when you start it up but once it’s ripping hot it should be better. See if that helps.

try use pellets instead.. atleast at my DIY smokeless pit using pellets seems to have less smoke then wood.

One of the best videos I've seen on how to start the Solo Stove and maintain the fire. I just ordered a Bonfire and once it comes I will probably order the shield based on your recommendation. Thanks again!!
