Exactly.. we all know how good land rover are off road. It's obviously going to be brilliant. Nobody else can touch land rover off road
Can’t wait to see what this looks like after I put my three boarder collies and a few sheep in the back.
It's so functional, it's so hard to point out something wrong with it.
Perfect car for the military. Just sell them to the enemy.
Haha
Indeed they'll be so busy keeping them showroom clean, they won't notice their positions being overrun.
They wouldn’t use it they’ll be scared to scrape it
Ha ha ha
Jesusuless.. you are one mean man :D
An awesome remake. I'm a fan. Love it.
i LOVE the grand tour specials but I'm really going to miss these guys reviewing cars...
Too shiny. Too flash. Not for farmers or armies, but for rich mummies wanting to look cool on the school run. And it will sell by the bucket load.
ludocrat i agreee
bowl-cut colored hair mummies that want to talk to the manager
Isn't that the issue with almost every SUV though? Can you really use that as a legitimate complaint? If you buy one you're not forced to drive it like that. I think it can still be something cool off-road.
Yes indeed... my point exactly.
Can you imagine chucking your pig in there cos it has the sh*ts and needs to see the Vet! Utility it ain't! Not for 40 grand plus.
You did not mention that the frame and traditional axels are gone..... whats left? Clever radio for 21.000 message and plugg in hybrid?
I looks HUGE, then you realise its Richard Hammond that is really small.
It looks a lot like spy photos of the upcoming newest Ford Bronco :)
Yeah
It is huge lol. We have one in our driveway right now and our jimny looks like a toy car 🤣
😂
That’s why hamster tests them
So basically they will use drivetribe to do the car reviews instead of on The Grand Tour? I approve this.
This isn't a review. It's an ad.
Longestnickevaaaaaar I think most of the cars they reviewed on Top Gear/The Grand Tour were also ads were they just had to give their opinion.
@@Longestnickevaaaaaar i agree
Grand tour is no more, they’re only going to do the odd special
All they have to do is race it against a skateboarder
Old defender: "form follows function"
New defender: "lets put a metal square on the side for literally no reason"
The metal square is there to be able to hook on extras such as storage boxes to the side of the defender.
Aactually the metal square is meant to protect the glass when you use the ladder, its honestly a godsend when camping ⛺️
It looks cool
@G G yeah it looks like a crossover hatchback suv now
"Richard Hammond reveals..."
... why the prices of secondhand Land Rover Defenders are about to go through the roof.
I just want a Lightweight
Agree 100%... get out there are buy yerselves a good condition old Defender 110 asap lads.
Hope so.
surely they did that the day they said that was the end of Defender! Have you not looked hw much they cost nowadays!?? Never worth the prices - old version or this one.
Matt Coleman Spot on ! And their the repair shop owners friend !
its like they listened to what everybody likes about the old defender and made the opposite.
Exactly!!! This is Terminator Dark Fate version of the LandRover Defender....
Andrew Pryce Toyota hilux are shit to drive as well.. in fact I would say worse than a land rover.. the play in our hilux steering was frightening..
Andrew Pryce Defenders weren’t really designed for hogging up and down the M25 at 80 mph... They were designed to be in Scotland, tearing through the mountains at 5 mph. Also, as long as it is maintained properly, they don’t need much fixing.
True
Exactly
I like how Hammond managed to get in before Top Gear
Well it was a great commercial they got in a return...
85 ECU's.... Great, let's see how reliable it is after 100K / 10yrs.
I can see a grand tour episode with Jeremy driving this, Richard driving a Jeep Wrangler, and James drives a Suzuki Jimny
Jimny would win.
Jeremy would drive jeep just like he did in last season...
ohh yeah, he might go jeep mad and get one Completely Decked out with every part in catalog bolted on.
#ClarksonisaJeepLifer
Alas, it is no more :(
@@byteme9718 1000000% agree
Looks like my defender has just gone up in value 😂
they actually have
Martin Latham yes
Believe the value of the "Discovery 4" has also gone up in value.
Yep snap, '96 110, offers please!
Same mate
Should've taken notes from Mercedes the way they renewed the G-Wagen but kept its identity
Or from Jeep
Or Suzuki
Exactly! The design is disgusting!
mistaking the defender for the range rover?
Or richard hammond himself
I didn't know what would happen if a Kia soul and a Honda Element had sex now I do.
That is the most perfect description of this car I have seen. Bravo.
More like a Honda Flex (male) with a Scion xB (female)
Spot on😂
NAILED IT xDDDD !!!!!
I think Suzuki did a better job at rebooting the Jimny than Land Rover rebooting the Defender.
A four door jimny would be amazing
And everything on the Jimmy will still work in five years from new , unlike the new Defender which will be a carelectricians retirement's fund😣
The Jimney is one hot mumma
I'm agree with you. The basic Jimny has more heritage than these new Defenders. Land Rover missed the topic here: KEEP IT SIMPLE.
It looks like a Land Rover has merged with a Mini Countryman.
or Skoda Yeti?
hahaha
That's what I was thinking, I don't like that aspect
I thougt the same 😂
Hideous ..pause... hideously expensive - mind you, Land Rover went down the toilet once they associated with brand Beckham just bloody awful ,plastic fillers grates lips etc
even Hammond cant save this car
Jeep Wrangler is so way much classier and its beautiful timeless design ques are legendary.
Jeep JL Wrangler Sahara/Rubicon ,Jeep models sit way way better in price points too ,higher than Land Rover defender it really means nothing oh and another thing
Kia Skoda Renault VW Suzuki Ford also great design cues and price points
A Land Rover with dozens of computers and lots of complex electronics.
What could possibly go wrong?
No Noooo!...surely you mean...."What could possibly go right"
So true I have a 2019 Range Rover and the electronic are a nightmare.
It’s a risk
Everything!
@@nikomoin7604 That's the understatement of the year
They should’ve done a stripped down “legacy” version with none of the techno chaff just the bare essentials
@Mein Schwanz ist kaputt but a customisable tin can ?
That’s correct, what they built is a Discovery not a Defender
More electronics = more trips to the workshop
Im a bit confused!! Is it the New Land Rover Defender or a Modern skoda Yeti!! 😂
my exact thought!
I'm pretty sure Jeremy Clarkson said the Yeti was the best vehicle on the planet, just sayin'!
I don't want to ruin your ideas about labor cost in Czechia, but it is nearly the same as in Slovakia. Of course both are much cheaper than in UK.
Lol been saying this since the sneak pics lol, land rover uses skoda for design now 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely not..this is UAZ Patriot
85 ECUs on a car from a brand known to mess up electronics? No thanks...
mark_one On a Fully loaded?
LMAO!! Just what you need driving from London to Cape Town.
That's 85 wet ECUs, my friend. Don't forget, Landrover loves making cars that can wade through deep water, but doesn't really carethat much about waterproofing them... 😅
mark_one LS swap it! Problem fixed!!
Hahahaha so true
Suzuki: Is it ok if we make the new defender?
JLR: Sure mate, we fancy doing a big freelander instead...
... it's a beta male version 🙄😭
Now thats funny.
😂😂

@@DrStorm_real shut up
This is just like when Jeep ruined the Cherokee after 2001.
When Fiat started making Jeeps.
@Mein Schwanz ist kaputt Doesn’t matter about the engine, it still looks like a fiAT.
@Mein Schwanz ist kaputt That’s the Grand Cherokee. The difference is that Jeep didn’t butcher the Grand Cherokee.
This new defender looks like a lifted mini cooper countryman from the side
It's atrocious indeed.
Land Rover did a big oopsie.
@@RandomPlaceHolderName ITS NOT ATROCIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Omah Why would you say that?!
Now I cant unsee it
@@coastaku1954 it is, indeed, atrocious.
Well, at least anyone with an old defender can be happy... Prices for these things just went up 20%
"We need to make it look more tough and rugged"
"I know, lets put a diamond tread plate pattern on the wing mirrors..."
In plastic no less...
@@Cyba_IT its a Honda
To be honest, this car looks more like a new Honda Element than a Land Rover.
I bet my element gets better mileage tho...
Sadly
Well the honda at least is reliable lol
Oh god it really does
I love the Honda Element
The new defender.....coming to a hipster cafe near you
More likely to have a prostitute in the back than a sheep
I’d be happy with either.
But it is cool though!
Sure Paul, if you spec the privacy glass and those Animal Welfare folk don’t find out .
@@footballgeorgiebest True enough!
Do I like the look of it? Yes
Do i think it will withstand my Bull scratching against it like an old Landy? HELL NO
It'll withstand it, but it won't look pretty afterwards. And seemingly looking pretty was very important to the designers.
Defender has to be simple car. That can survive without updating software every second.
depends on the market. my mother isn't interested in the internet, but most people are.
Foreal I’m a technician for Land Rover and most problems are software updates
Are you an idiot? Your basically asking it to have technology from the 80s.
i love this comment... LOL
ETHEREΛL Arts I’m not mad and idk much about this car yet hasn’t been brought to the us as far as I know.
Looks more like something for a city yummy mummy than a rugged-terrain vehicle for an angry Yorkshire farmer
As an angry Yorkshire farmer, I agree...angrily! You won't be pinning a bulll against a wall with that ....or putting a dead sheep in the back...totally pointless that brings nothing new to the party
@@malcolmchapman3032 VW had it right with the old Beetle, they used to produce it in Mexico I think. You got the "original" version brand new if you see what I mean?
i find this comment very British.
Buys land cruiser instead
Eyup!
All i heard was....look how many things will break! AND THEY WILL!
So true...anyone I know who works for JLR says they wouldnt buy one 😅
Most people buy JLR for the design and just accept the fact that they aren't reliable.
Can you trust a Land Rover with 85 computers on board?
...often and expensively
Radi0he4d1: well..this is the best comment I get so far !
Oh, nice the new Fiat panda 4x4 looks good!!!
Panda was more truthful than this
Looks nothing like the panda
I suspect my Defender has just increased in value.
Edge 1664 same :)
That's right. Hold on to it and take good care of it. You've got something valuable!
I have a 1986 defender should I keep?
Is that Jim Ratcliffe I see rolling on the floor laughing?
As good as the Defender was in 1975 it was pretty shit towards the end. The idea that farmers were crying when they ceased production is bullshit - they were all buying Japanese pickups long before that.
I wish Hammond, Clarkson and May did mini car reviews like this more often on RUclips.😩💓
Front end look familiar...?
Think 1st gen Freelander.
Damn
You're right
Yep
So the original ones have just doubled in price after this!
Double AGAIN you mean... good series landys are now going for more than defenders sold for new
Just get over your biases and buy a Wrangler. Its basically everything you wanted this car to be.
AD1 J70 series land cruiser is always a better alternative just not available in US
quadroupled!
@@kev8943 not available in most of the world unfortunately. And also not that great. It's a stiff work truck with very little flex and expensive optional air conditioning and vinyl floors. And its loud inside and costs G wagon $
