  • The universe had a beginning!
And when the universe began, God already was. He is separate from the universe and therefore He is not subject to the constraints of time and space. But what does it mean that God created the heavens and the earth? And why is the origin of creation relevant to us today?
In this week's sermon, we will study Genesis 1:1-2 and look at the significance of God as Creator of the heavens and the earth. We'll consider some of the objections to the Biblical creation account as well as some theories and speculations about the first chapter of Genesis. But more importantly we'll see that just like the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of an unformed and chaotic earth, so too does God's Spirit hover over our chaotic lives and call light into the darkness of our souls.
