The fourth (and final) keynote of INVOLVE 2021: Reunion!
Dr Eruera Tarena (Ngāi Tahu (Ngāi Tūāhuriri), Ngāti Porou, Te Whānau-a-Apanui) is Executive Director for Tokona te Raki: Māori Futures Collective, an indigenous design and innovation lab for systems and social change. Its purpose is to provide next gen solutions powered by rangatahi Māori and fuelled by mātauranga Māori. This Te Tiriti-based kawa for future-making is designed to tackle complex systemic change and bridges insights, innovation and impact. Eruera is also a Ministerial appointee to Te Taumata Aronui and Te Māngai Pāho.
Madison Simons (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Whātua, Te Roroa, Ngāti Kahungunu Ngāti Porou) is the Rangatahi Labs Director for Tokona Te Raki. Madison holds qualifications in Commerce and Marketing and completed her Masters in Urban Resilience and Renewal, where she looked at Whānau led, placed based responses to Papakāinga housing in Ōtautahi. She is also a part of an entrepreneurial rangatahi group running a business which looks to offer sporting and academic support and opportunities to tauira in Kura Kaupapa. Madison’s superpower is her consistent questioning and her love for disruption. Madison has been brought up centred around her wider whānau, an environment that breeds competitiveness which is evident through her doer personality.
