- For a long time, we've seen fake Lalaloopsy dolls being sold online and we've always been curious about what they were like. We finally decided to check one out! Today we have a bootleg Scarlet Riding Hood doll, and we'll see how she compares with our real Lalaloopsy Scarlet Riding Hood, made by MGA Entertainment. I'm always curious about knock-offs of popular dolls and toys. On one hand, I am hoping the bootleg is just as nice as the original; on the other hand, I am a little upset that companies are basically ripping off unwary consumers. It is interesting to see and compare real and fakes. Sometimes the quality of the copy is not too bad, and the copy makes for an inexpensive way for someone just beginning to do custom dolls to create a custom doll without having to ruin an expensive original doll. For a definitive definition, a bootleg is a piece of licensed merchandise without the blessing of the licensing holder for money reasons or etc. these bootlegs are copies of real stuff, make them garbage and sell them online. Even worse is sometimes they package them in a way that would make a parent or guardian think that their getting something that’s real.
