I got a shock when Mike Brewer came up. Thank you for the upload. Enjoyed it.
BMW never really tried to make Rover work, they just wanted Mini and the Land Rover technology!
So true if they did make rover work it would and could of been a marriage made in a sweety bed room German muscle and english styled i think they could of produced some realy nice cars and reinvents the metro i worked on cars for 20 years back then and all ways like driving the mini metro people disliked the metro but if COULD have been a best seller in German hands and German technology
That Aston still looks great in 2020...
I remember when the year 2000 was the future. Now it looks massively dated....
A bit like your comment.
@@pussinboots1145 you dumb fuck
Of course it looks dated, it’s from a different decade. I am sure things in 2020, will look dated in 10 years time
I’ll gladly take the year 2000 over 2020....
@@faugrad why? Is there something about 2020 that I should know about? Don't tell me that flares are back in style.
The design of the Elise Mk2 was so good, they still manufacture it after 20 years.
3:35 Mike Brewer was always pushy.
seriously .....18 years ago ......holy shit batman!!!
20 years now, how time flies
It's a real shame what happened to Rover/MG. The 75 was/is a really nice car with a unique look and character. A pity BMW didn't persevere with the brand and develop a new range of cars. 1 new model in an ageing lineup was never going to be enough. When you look at how much they've since milked the Mini brand it's hard not to conclude that they saw Rover only as a stepping stone.
Thank you for the upload and amazing that you left the car ads in, brill!
+Thomas Harrison-Lord Glad you enjoyed it! Hoping to get some more episodes up on here soon. Love a bit of car ad nostalgia!
Yes, the best, thanks again!
They need a show againe
Time flies by 😱
And not a whiff of Infocrapment systems in sight. They put REAL audio into the cars in those days. Higher bit rate and real Hi-Fi.
What a colour combination Jason Potato was wearing
Mad how you’d expect the Mondeo to be the one to stand the test of time, out of the three in this video the Mondeo was on the road until 2001, the rover lasted until 2011 and the Peugeot was surprisingly still on the road until August 2018
Matty's Cars Peugeot’s 406 were built to last. Many of them still about
Matty's Cars Old fords were not as good, the newer ones are built to last
@@forza223bowe5 I remember as child seeing many mk1 and mk2 mondeos held together with gaffer tape. But always thought those 2000s mondeos were quite solid
Jesus! Mike Brewers put on some timber!
A very small Mike brewer
I'd forgotten that Plato was on Driven before Fifth Gear.
Same with James May.
Jaguar Land Rover surely need to revive the Rover brand for mass-market mid-size/executive cars. The brand is still known well in Europe and has potential (apparently also in China). People in Britain can think of the dark days of BL, but they should not forget Rover classics like the P6 and the 75 were brought to us too. Rover can serve a great field market one level below Jaguar. Of course, not smaller cars (Austin and MG served those, and the Rover brand should've never replaced Austin because Rover represented something more classy).
TVR's still rule, even in 2019! :)
and still unreliable - my TVR Tuscan kept breaking down - a load of cr@p
Have you any more episodes yet to upload? Full on nostalgia trip watching these back :)
+warren6815 More to come soon :)
9:25 TVR part
25:25 Lotus part
I've got some clips on old VHS that I recorded, the Evo VI GSR & Extreme, also the Evo VII.
Yes I'm an Evo nut, can you tell?
That TVR Tuscan triggers my tryophobia.
right. first stop at the motor show has to be the Ferrari stand. always a wanker puller
Is that the same lady from motorfair 1989?
Aston ridiculous money even then.
I remember going to this with my Dad and his mate, id have been 7 years old. 😂 Also think I remember running through the car park to catch them up and nocking off a wing mirror of a ford Sierra. Sorry 😐
JordanEmonds Lmao
Lol
24:25 They say it comes in "many colors" and then proceed to show 3 (three) colors. Oh the year 2000. you used to be so new.
Having owned both the Mondeo and the 406. I would have the 406 any day again.
What was the Rover under the dust sheet?
Looks like an MG ZT
Re the Aston segment: Hate the cheesy faux bond music that these types of programmes use.
@Luke K993 I was 33 in 2000. Your point being...?
Mike didnt know you go that far back in cars and loved your goofy man with goofy hat godbless mike back then you made some REALLY good car series and say hello to ed China love what he does cool boys x ps can you make this Sort of car show again and mike mate please go and loose a bit of weight no afence james
Rover needs to add a roadster like a GT-6 and Hatchback with AWD next to Range-Rover or Jeep type vechicle
Rover has been closed for 14 years, so they don't need to add anything lol
WHAT A BALLS UP WITH ROVER....SAD
Well, this episode was definitely bought.... I mean sponsored.... by Ford. The Mondeo was never that smooth!
The overtaking test was definitely rigged, because the Peugeot in the 2.0L form had a VERY capable and swift engine. It looked like the driver did not even bother to downshift and hit the sweet spot in the powerband of that car.
Ich werde es bald Zahlen.....
N|o rover can compet agaist Toyota, they build the Supra with BMW and Subaru
Bmw didn't want to compete with rover so they brought it then made sure it was dead
Never owned a 75 rover but know some people that love them poor man's jaguar lol good car shame they had a bunch of useless assholes running the company if i had ANYTHING to do with Leyland rover cars it would still be producing good cars even the old jags were good sellers@!
Natürlich brauchen Materialien Einkaufen.....
Natürlich zahlreiche von 1980 Autos Schieben Bände......
We need another car show that actually reviews them is isn't full of silly presenters going AAhh - Weee - and all this is yours for only £120,000
34:17 Sex joke
No the Audi A3 wasn’t the same as the Skoda Octavia. Absolutely ridiculous as the cars were completely reworked
Not really. Same basic chassis, engines, transmissions, and electrics. Only the body and interior were different. Plus different tuning for the suspension, steering etc. But most of the mechanical parts were/are interchangeable.
soundseeker63 didn’t the Leon and A3 even have the same dash?
It should have gone to Honda not BMW
Honda only wanted to be a stakeholder not full owner
Thought Mike Brewer was born fat!
Rover is dead
Rover range in 2000 was crap
Rover should of not gone with the niche market should of stuck with what they knew best
In my view, ford copy everything these days
Danach bitte meine Eltern & Familie bitte raus lassen....
