@bobbyball77 Hey Bobby! Not able to join Patreon at the moment but if so inspired they and all would love Muddy Waters - Mannish Boy Hey do you have anywhere to correspond. FB etc would love to share some music. I'm a musician drums percussion, keys
Buddy and his brother Phil Guy, we’re friends of mine for years! So blessed to have had them and their whole family in my life! I’d get the best seat in the house when visiting Buddy’s Chicago bar, and I’d get to sit with the family in “box seats” at any theatre shows I attended! These were some of my musical highlights in life! Peace
@@bobbyball77 I ended up “managing” Phil Guy for all his eastern Canadian performances (Bobby Rush, Lucky Peterson and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith - of Muddy Waters Band fame!, too) I had a blessed musical life for a white, Canadian boy! Peace
I'm jealous. I've met and performed with a few famous artists, but I think I'd trade all those life experiences for a chance to meet Buddy. He's on the GOAT list in my book. His guitar playing, singing ability and attitude are as good as it gets.
Buddy Guy was still performing in his club THIS PAST YEAR. His wailing during singing and his bends are legendary. This guy more than SRV, Jimi, Jimmy, or BB taught me the blues. The first day I met the blues..........
Great song choice by Bobby. That album is excellent. Buddy was the last person on my bucket list of artists I wanted to see perform, and I finally got the opportunity a few years ago to see him in concert. And to make it even sweeter, it was free. And when he strolled through the audience playing his guitar, I was in an aisle seat and he stopped and gave me a quick guitar lick or two and then went on down the aisle. One of the coolest things I saw him do was stop every time he got near a kid and spend a little time interacting with them. I love Buddy's voice and singing as much as I do his guitar playing. They are both very similar to each other, kinda frantic, very soulful and powerful. Y'all would enjoy some John Lee Hooker. He has an interesting vocal delivery and timing, a little bit like Guy's. Check out JLH duet with Van Morrison on the song " Serves Me Right to Suffer".
Buddy is so great. Guitarist, Singer and great entertainer, we saw him twice and both times he walked out into the crowd, playing hellacious solos, the last time, playing to the crowd outside briefly then coming back in and blowing us away. One of the most important musicians ever, his influence over the very best is legendary. Try Damn Right I've Got the Blues next, another classic cut. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Buddy is arguably the most influential musician of the 20th Century. Pick a legendary band or singer from the 50s, 60s and 70s, and in interviews, they will mention Buddy. That implies that later music, influenced by these legendary bands, have Buddy Roots. This is truly Top Shelf music.
Legends that he said in the song was the name of his bar, he is that good , many duos with all stars with Clapton, Aerosmith, Beth Hart , Beck, Keith Richards etc. Justifying Is a great tune
I had the honor to see him perform twice. Once on the Hendrix Experience Tour which featured a ton of blues and rock performers doing Jimmy Hendrix covers. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was next to last and he did Voodoo Child plus a couple of others and then Buddy Guy ended the show with a few more songs. Then I saw Kenny Wayne open up for Buddy in June of 2019. What a great show. Both played for over an hour. I believe Buddy was 82 at the time, so he didn’t really play too much lead guitar a little bit, but he had another guy do most of it. But he would spend at least 5 minutes between songs telling stories and strumming on the guitar a bit. Awesome overall performer. I would recommend Mustang Sally if you are going down the Buddy Guy path.
Great reaction! Phil & Sam, as you both said, Buddy Guy was one of the OG's in the genre of blues music. However, instead of suggesting another one of his tunes. I'd like to continue on to introduce you to another great blues artist, if interested. "Don't Lie To Me - Albert King with Stevie ray Vaughan" (live) (by the channel: Swain Paramore) I believe you've already reacted to SRV --Albert King is known as one of the "Four Kings of the Blues" none of whom were actually related to one another. 😏 But King had a huge influence on guitar players after he came to prominence and began recording for Stax Records in the 60's. Some of those he influenced were Jimmi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and then later on Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Robert Cray. Oh... and those four blues kings were B.B. King, Earl King, Freddie King, and Albert King. As always, I enjoyed rocking with you both. I hope your still enjoying your music journey. Thanks for sharing, we appreciate you.
Buddy is a local hero here in Chicago. I use to see him back in the day at area clubs for like 10 bucks. He opened his own club called. Legends that he refers to in this song. It is place you can sit down and eat and drink and listen to great blues. Even between sets someone s on stage. A true gentleman. He will flirt with your girl.
Great reaction. As a musician, engineer and producer, I’m impressed by the way you both really understood this record. The other thing that I would point out is that, although the baritone saxophone was used sparingly, I saw both of your eyes light up when it was introduced into the song. i’d like to also point out that you can hear Jimmy Hendrix’s vocal style was also influence by buddy.
I saw him a few years ago when he was in his early 80's in a small venue. He was fantastic, energetic and he played that guitar in ways I never thought I would see.
Now you will have to check out Lightnin’ Hopkins. Please check out his song Hello Central or Trouble in Mind. Lightnin’ Hopkins is my favorite blues singer.
This is one of those songs I could never get tired of. Great song to relax and enjoy the musicianship of one of the greatest and influential blues players. Lots of great music in this genre. Excellent reaction and thank you for reacting to this. Keep being awesome
Brings back late night blues clubs in Chicago. Never been to his club, but some of the other well-known ones, that is like this record, except wilder live. The blues clubs are small, and packed.
I love Buddy Guy.....you need to check out his song "Damn right, I've got the blues" live from the guitar center session....he can play with one hand!!!
Thank you for your reaction-I’m always looking for blues and jazz reactions! Buddy Guy is awesome! I think you would like B.B. King The Thrill is Gone. Also Johnny and Edgar Winter Tobacco Road is amazing-blues with some jazzy scatting!
"Sweet and Lowdown" (1999) is a comedy-drama written and directed by Woody Allen and has Sean Penn playing a jazz guitarist. Penn garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Actor; the movie has maybe 14 pieces or partials of jazz and blues music. Samantha Morton also received an Oscar nomination, for best Supporting Actress. Rated 4 to 5 stars, and well worth watching on a Saturday night.
Not only did he influence Hendrix, Hendrix would go to his shows with a tape recorder and tape him then try to copy his sound..... Buddy is awesome probably my favorite Blues Man
Buddy guy is the last of the old blues masters he is only one still alive . He still play sometimes last I heard. If you like that check out red roster by howling wolf.
Buddy Guy is amazing, you should do him live! He is so fun, definitely a very funny character to watch!!❤❤ watched him on a couple of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival videos, I think we have two or three of them. So fun to watch!🔥🔥🔥 I hope you do react to a live one! Thanks to doing this…❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
I saw Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughn together in Austin back in the early '80s!🤗 There are several live videos of them together y'all might want to react to.💯 SRV really admired Buddy Guy and all the old bluesmen that came before him.🐐 Still lovin' your channel, keep goin' and keep growin'!😊❤️✌️
Ren and his band The Big Push do an interesting live, rock-oriented version of this great song in a medley that includes Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters. Buddy's original is of course the best, but I also enjoy TBP's version, and am glad to see that young folk still vibe to the old classics! (I'm an "old classic" myself, lol, and had a chance to see blues great Willie Dixon in concert way back in the early 1980's. Never got a chance to see Buddy Guy, though, and was surprised to see that he's still performing!)
Great reaction, thank you! you should check out buddy doing skin deep, for me his best song. A great version is: Skin Deep featuring Buddy Guy | Playing For Change | Song Across the USA
This was a new release in 2005 on his "Bring 'Em In" album so the recording technology, and therefore the mix, is modern. The album has compositions by Eddie Floyd, Curtis Mayfield, Bettye Crutcher etc and had horn arrangements by Willie Mitchell, so it has a soul underpinning i.e. not straight up blues. Buddy was in his late 60s. You should hear something from when he was a young man in his early 20s. Try "First Time I Met The Blues" (1960) ruclips.net/video/nZAG4cz0uYY/видео.html Sorry the version on the URL is in mono and has nothing to commend it from a recording standpoint.
Don't listen to much blues if you don't know Buddy Guy! Suggested artists: Johnny Winter, Melvin Taylor, Coco Taylor, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters.
Go back to 1969 with Buddy Guy playing with Jack Bruce on bass, a founder along with Eric Clapton of the group Cream and Buddy Miles who was also Jimi Hendrix's drummer. ruclips.net/video/8k54r_ANt8o/видео.html
Should do Buddy’s “Damn Right, I’ve Got The Blues”.
Props to Bobby for suggesting! . Essential classic blues tracks
Muddy Waters- Mannish Boy
John Lee Hooker- Boom Boom Boom
BB King- The Thrill is Gone
Thank you. I can't argue against any of your selections you listed. All great recommendations.

Buddy is an Icon of the Blues. Clapton, SRV, Gary Moore, and The Rolling Stones have all played with him. Top Shelf Ledgend.
💙💙💙💙💙… Now this… is cool!! I can honestly say… I have never seen anyone react to Buddy Guy!!! This is going to be good!!!! Kudos, kiddos!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎

Only of my favorite musicians. One of the greatest guitarist in the world. Keeping the blues alive. 🤘🤘
You're doing Buddy Guy? 👏👏👏👏👏
Had the opportunity to see Buddy Guy as the opening act for B.B. King in 2005. Amazing show from them both.😎
To fully understand Buddy’s impact on the Blues and music, you should know that before Buddy Guy, blues guitar players played sitting down.
Buddy Guy is the real deal!
Well done! Buddy guy has always been one of my blues heroes.
There's a picture of Hendrix sitting in the front row watching Buddy Guy on stage.
I think that it's safe to say...SRV listen to more than his share of Buddy 🤔 God bless them both 🙏🙏 Spread the love Y'all 🐶😎🇺🇸
Saw Buddy Guy about 6 months ago in Sonoma Co
He was so good and a real funny character on stage.
Great song.

Muddy Waters-Mannish Boy

The Rolling Stones named after a Muddy song. One of the most influential artists period ..

One of my all time favorites 😍 ❤️ 💛
I have had the pleasure of seeing him live on a few occasions.
My first listen to Buddy Guy (and what a listen it was) thanks Bobby, Bars and Barbells!
Buddy Guy’s bar/club “Legends” was always a Mecca for live Blues in Chicago.
Legends that he said in the song was the name of his bar, he is that good , many duos with all stars with Clapton, Aerosmith, Beth Hart , Beck, Keith Richards etc. Justifying Is a great tune
I've seen Buddy six times. He's a great performer. Very entertaining.
Fantastic groove in this track with a plucky lead totally in sync and a vocal/lyric so suitable to the collective sound .... GREAT !!!
My all-time favorite song (and album) from Buddy Guy is "Feels Like Rain"
Buddy Guy continues to rock!

@Bars & Barbells - I’m from Chicago and buddy was a longtime and legendary presence in Chicago for decades!
