Learning katakana can be really helpful when trying to read the names of products. It is often used on stuff like that, either to make it stand out, or because foreign words are being used. Before you go to Japan again you should watch some of the claw machine win compilations uploaded by the Japanese. They have some cool techniques that get them more of the food prizes in one play.

Because you were able to grab the circle pull with the claw, only that box fell into the prize box. The others had no force on it until it got unbalanced and toppled over
