It's not the dress code.....You'll get stares even if you wear traditional dress maybe more stares on that cos they are curious. It's not like the stare you get while walking through New York's Streets "the creepy one". People are curious and they sometimes get overwhelmed...cos of the following slogan we follow Atithi Devo Bhava which trans to 'Guests Are God'. They even might ask for selfie for that or they'll offer you something good or they even might invite you to their home for a lovely meal together.🙏

My female friend went to India. She was sexually assaulted. A group of Indian men grabbed her boobs and twisted her nipple in New Delhi. She was so scared at the time and reported to the police, but the police told her that there was nothing they could do because all the perpetrators had fled. She didn't recognise any of them as they all had beard and looked the same.

Hey, I hope you had a wonderful time during your vacation to India.
I'm from Delhi only, born & raised here. And I'd like to say that not all areas in India are conservative, of courses there are places where you have to be careful about your clothing & stay a little covered.
But otherwise you can wear modern revealing clothing like shorts, skirts, dresses, crop tops, tank tops, off shoulder tops, etc in nightclubs, bars, high end hotels & restaurants, modern bazaars & malls.
And cosmopolitan cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata etc. & Beach destinations like Goa, Pondicherry, Andaman Islands & Lakshwadeep Islands are pretty much liberal when it comes to clothing attire.
Some particular areas are little backward while some are pretty modern. And many foreigners don't know this side of India.

Hi! What would you suggest for Hyderabad? Are knee length dresses okay, or should they be longer? I'm going in a few weeks and I'm afraid it will be terribly hot. Thank you!

    • @siddhantrohatgi7802

@@saralee848 Hey, hope you're doing well. Hyderabad is also a big metropolitan city & the hub for the South Indian film industry. Knee length dresses should be absolutely fine.
Again, if you'd be visiting the upmarket & posh areas, dresses & shorts/skirts would be alright. While if you're in local markets & streets, you can wear loose plazos, pants with tank tops/t-shirts & long jumpsuits since it would be really hot.
I hope this helps & I wish you a wonderful time in India! 🙏😊🇮🇳

I'm going to India on Sunday and I'll be wearing the same "holiday" clothes as I do any other holiday. Why wouldn't I?
I'm not disrespecting anyone, I'm just wearing what I'm comfortable in. If it's hot, I'm obviously not be going to be wearing long leg or long sleeved items.
I don't understand why anyone would expect to wear something different when tourists from other countries visit the UK and still wesr their own preferred clothes, what's the difference 🤷‍♀️

It's important to respect the local customs and culture, especially in a culturally diverse country like India where conservative attire is often valued in public spaces. But I guess no one may directly confront you for wearing whatever you want, it's also your responsibility to deal with any discomfort that arises. For instance, you might be denied entry to temples, and people might stare at you to the point of discomfort.

Just wear simple kurta and have a chunni which could be used to cover front part and head .
