- This is one of the main themes from one of my favorite video games of all time, Metal Gear Solid. It's a very simple yet beautiful song, and I really wanted to have my own fingerstyle interpretation of it. So here it is!
This is a really fun song to play for me. Besides the intro, there are only two chords to this entire song. And its melody is also very straightforward. It's a rather simple song, so I tried to employ as many different techniques as I could to spice it up a bit and make it more interesting while still staying true to the original. Hope you enjoy it! :D

Wow thanks! It's a rather simple song, honestly. Beyond the intro, the entirety of the song only has two chords. And the melody wasn't overly complicated either. I tried to employ as many techniques as I could - from percussive taps to octave changes - to try and keep it interesting and prevent it from sounding repetitive. Glad to see someone who appreciates the little things I incorporated in my version :D

It's because not everyone (myself included) are fans of the "slappy-tappy" style of guitar playing. Many of us prefer songs that have a real melody and which do not require using the guitar as a drum. Your milage may vary, of course.

Wow. Never heard something like that before.... 100% matching notes to the original one. Piano covers don't gave the real emotions of this song. But you did it.... "You're pretty good" ;) And that ending part you played so easily( 5:02) .... I though I was the only person who loves it and know every single note of this masterpiece song. But I was wrong.... Thank you so much! Actually, it's not 100% accurate to the original. Listening to it now, I realize that the little riff I do in between verses is not the same as in the original song, but I'd like to think of it as putting my own spin on it lol >.< And 5:02 onwards is my favorite part of this piece! It may have looked like I was playing it so easily but it's pretty challenging to play that melody while still keeping the percussive slap going. It's really fun though!
It's true that it's not 100 % match but it's 100% similiar to the original one. Including every part of song. Most of covers skips very important parts creating divine spirit of that tune. I'm still listening ;)
Yeah I get what you mean. It's such a long song, but I just felt like all the parts were equally as important and complemented one another very well so I didn't want to skip anything, even the weird intro lol
That's because this song is unussual. It's not just a few notes played one by another. It's a story... that's why every part is so important. And that simple two chords (not including intro part)... Most of people who covered it are adding some chords. Like E minor for example. That's where they make a huge mistake. Because this song is most beatiful, in it's simple form. For me Your interpratation is the most resembling one on YT. Even if it had some more notes in main tune. It's suits well for guitar. ;) I'll wait until the day I see Enclosure on your channel. You got skills ;)
It is indeed unusual. The intro by itself feels like an entirely different song from the rest. And I agree with the story analogy. I heard Rika Muranaka say in an interview once that when Hideo Kojima hired her to compose this, he told her to surprise him, to make a crazy song in a language that he's never heard of before. I think it's safe to say she delivered! And oh man, I've always wanted to learn Enclosure. I've played around with that song a bit, but I just haven't figured out an arrangement that I feel would be worthy of uploading lol. I gotta work on that one though!

This is an old video now, and I have grown enough as a guitar player over the years to recognize that there are a lot of things I probably could've done better/differently in this arrangement. But I'm glad that despite it being dated, people still think it's a good performance. I appreciate that so much! ❤️
