    Check out the stats for Stan. He had the sweetest swing. Good man, great player and team mate. Should be as well known as Babe or Mickey or Willie. Never got his due.

    It's a pity one of the top five ball players of all time doesn't have enough film footage to allow a decent presentation in appreciation of The Man, Stan Musial..... thanks for posting this. It must have been a labor of love. Thank you.

    He didn't try to elevate the ball the first 5 years averaged 14.2 hr's, the team asked him to try to hit more homers, he averages 31 the next 10 years. If he would have elevated the ball the first 5 years and averaged 31, that would have added 84 to his total 474+84= 558 add 31 for the year missed to the War 558+31=589.Then consider the 201 balls he hit off the 31 1/2 high screen in Sportsman Park THAT ABOSUTLEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HOME RUNS IN BOSTON OR YANKEE STADIUM (both had walls less than 5 ft high in RF)
    201 (72 singles 107 doubles 22 triples) if all had been hr's then he would have had 790 homers if only 1/2 690 homers. He didn't play in Boston or New York, he wasn't a publicity hound like Williams, he was a humble man who loved the game, and he never got 10% of the notoriety he deserved. IT WAS SO BAD, THAT THE MILLIONS OF THOSE WHO WERE BORN AFTER HE RETIRED, HAD BEEN DEPRIVED OF ANY KNOWLEDE OF ONE OF THE TOP 6 LEFTHANDED BATTERS OF ALL TIME,(Cobb,Speaker,Ruth,Gehrig,Williams,Musial) AND THEY WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE HIM OFF THE ALL CENTURY TEAM IN 1999, UNTIL ALL THOSE IN THE BASEBALL COMMUNITY OVER 60 YEARS OLD PUT HIM IN. That had to hurt him. If not for War years, and the screen in St. Louis Musial as well as Williams, would have joined Ruth in the 700 home run club.

    Stan's stats are fantasy stats! Ridiculous numbers and remember he served 1, PRIME YEAR in the military, hence the MAN! If that had been a full season, he may have eclipsed 500 homers and nearly 4000 hits! His stats, number for number are comparable and in my opinion better than Willie Mays! Better BA, more hits, more extra base hits, higher SLG % etc. Awesome!

    • @ethanbradley2089
      @ethanbradley2089 Год назад

      I think about this all the time I think he would've got to 4000. But I also think Ted Williams would've eclipsed him without military service. As painful as that is.

      Check the post i just put up; forget 500 hr's; no question over 600 homers, and if we could adjust for the first 5 years , maybe700 plus homers

    Stan The Man literally lived up to his name and reputation.
    Eight times he led the Majors in doubles (1943,1944,1946,1948,1949,
    1952,1953,1954) five times (1943, 1946, 1948, 1949, 1951) in triples of which he had hit 20 three-baggers (1943, 1946), 2x NL leader in RBIs (1948, 1956), 7x NL Batting Champion (1943, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1957), four times he cracked the .1000 mark in OPS (on base plus slugging percentage), and he struck out less than 700 times in his entire career. 1948, he led the National League or Majors in runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, runs batted in, batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage and on base plus slugging percentage.
