IMOCA RACE REPORT #6 I Retour à La Base - Jour 1

Bienvenus dans ce premier Race Report du Retour à La Base !
Première journée haute en couleurs au large de l'arc antillais. Partis il y à 24 heures de Fort-de-France, 30 des 32 solitaires inscrits à la course Retour à La Base retrouvent leurs marques en solitaire et profitent encore d'une certaine douceur de vivre.
Équipier de Clarisse Crémer sur la Transat Jacques Vabre, le Britannique Alan Roberts vous propose ensuite, une analyse de la stratégie sur ce parcours retour hyper exigeant. Carte à l'appuie, vous verrez, le menu est copieux.
Enfin, très très grande émotion pour Tanguy Le Turquais et l'équipe Lazare. Avec Félix de Navacelle, les marins sont arrivés sur la ligne d'arrivée de la Transat Jacques Vabre, huit heures seulement avant sa fermeture. Pari tenu !
Victime d'une collision au départ du Havre, le skipper s'était arrêté plusieurs jours pour réparer la coque de son IMOCA à Lorient avant de repartir en course...mais contre le routage car les concurrents étaient déjà bien loin.
Désormais, Tanguy a juste le temps de profiter de l'instant et d'embrasser fort sa fille avant de repartir en course en solitaire...vers Lorient. On lui souhaite un immense courage et on lui tire notre plus beau chapeau !

A colourful first day off the Caribbean coast. Having set out from Fort-de-France 24 hours ago, 30 of the 32 solo sailors entered in the Retour à La Base race are finding their feet single-handed and still enjoying some of the gentler weather.
Clarisse Crémer's crewman in the Transat Jacques Vabre, Alan Roberts from the UK, then analyses the strategy on this highly demanding return leg. With a map to back it up, you'll see that the menu is copious.
Finally, a very emotional moment for Tanguy Le Turquais and the Lazare team. With Félix de Navacelle, they arrived at the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre, just eight hours before the line closed. A gamble that paid off!
Victim of a collision at the start in Le Havre, the skipper had stopped for several days to repair his boat in Lorient before getting back into the race... against the routing. The competitors were a long way off.
Now he just has time to enjoy the moment and give his daughter a big hug before setting off again single-handed... towards Lorient. We wish him the best of luck and take our hats off to him!
