My family left in 1957 when I was 21. We were not prepared tp be forced to lose contact with other extended family members , who were either Baptists or Anglicans. I had to break off my engagement to G. because he wanted to remain with the Brethren., We both went off to university in 1957(It was still allowed then). G.became the main Brethren leader in the USA, but disagreed with the Elect Vessel -who preceded Bruce Hales. G. was put out of The Exclusive Brethren Christian Church, and returned to Britain and is now a member of an Open Brethren Chapel. I heard about this 20 years ago at a cousin's Golden Wedding. Two ladies there had been in the Exclusives in Manchester in the 1950s, but are now Baptists. I still help ex-exclusives , occasionally , whenever I meet any , as they need a lot of help and support to begin with.
Hello Sarah, Do you have the support of the brethren regarding this? In their agreement with the Charity Commission the brethren have agreed to give 'reasonable assistance' to those seeking to leave the community.
Jacky Hart My husband was born in this community. I am from Church of England denomination. Started going here coz of my husband. Very abusive people. They threatened to excommunicate my husband if I wear ornaments. How could I ever tell I want to leave? As of now we live in separate countries. I’m not planning to go back.
What does 1 Corinthians 15:33 say; "Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits"? This religion seems to take the concept of association with others outside their organization to an extreme. I watched an Omnibus documentary on RUclips about this sect from 1976 and the amount of control they have over their followers is much the same as any normal parent would have over their toddler. One woman brought up in the cult said there was one occasion when her mother let her worldly neighbour in the house just to have a look at her baby nephew. Because of this 'wicked' action, she was excommunicated. There was also a case of a man who had to have restrictions put on his association with his own family as a result of being excommunicated, and due to his frustrations murdered them and then committed suicide.
Jesus hung out with people who were sinners and talked nicely to sinners to recruit them to Christ. Jesus said he come to call up the sinners not recruit the righteous. Jesus did not recruit people with the sword or with violence like Christians during Colonialism or the Crusades. Jesus may only preached of heaven or hell true. Jesus never talked about joining communes the only way to live in the world but not of the world is to socially interact with the world while not joining in on drugs, sex, stealing, lying, etc. TV and internet is not evil in itself it depends on what one watches on it,
If someone is courting the Exclusive Brethren would insist on them being 'chaperoned' to avoid the risk of premarital pregnancy. I am a Jehovah's Witness and they recommend chaperoning too, especially for teenagers. It isn't enforced on everyone though, I'm 48 and last year I had my girlfriend alone in my house with me and we sat on my late mother's old bed and kissed on the lips. We never went any further than that, mind you.

Jacky Hart May I know how to obtain that?
On the Talk Beliefs channel, go on the "About" section. Under "details" there is a "view email address". Hope to hear from you soon.

Where is there "false witness' here?? This woman is giving a true account of what happened to her.
It’s a cult !!! Fact not a religion!!
Your inept criticism sounds like idle words.
