Hi Ali, I admire your consistent very helpful contents, i had severe ocd and i took two different types of antidepressants at different times, i didn't practice any erp at that time and i had my ocd completely gone at both times

Hi Ali - For years I've tried different antidepressants in combination with Abilify in hopes that it will "remove" my intrusive thoughts. But, like you've said, it simply does not work that way. It's really troubling because NONE the psychiatrists I've dealt with recommend ERP and their answer to my OCD is just to increase the dosage or switch meds to no avail. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the videos you create for us because they have allowed me to get my life back from my thoughts. You are simply the best!

Are you better now did you just do ERP? Without meds.

@@dejandejan2925 Hi - What I've noticed is that meds work for my depression, but not my OCD. So I still take them to combat depression, but I use what Ali teaches for OCD.

@@T0WER is your OCD better with her style of treating OCD? With just ERP.
I might have depression also i don't know. I would like to think that depression and ocd are manageable without meds. I am just taking antipsihotic before sleep for now so i can sleep. I am seeing some side effects so i would like to go 100% without meds. But i don't know is that possible. I just found out 2 weeks ago that i have ocd it was kind a shock.

The way that I like to put it is that medication calms you down enough to let you tackle your recovery. I started taking 300 mgs of Wellbutrin in August of 2019 and my OCD definitely hasn’t been as severe since, but only because it let me focus more on doing work that was good for me. So I would definitely say medication can be a very useful tool to help supplement your recovery. I went from about a 12/10 anxiety to a 6/10 after being on it for like 4 months. And I was even like a 8/10 a week in. Everyone will be different I’m sure, but I haven’t gone back to that 12/10 place once since I started on medication. Wellbutrin is a stimulant though... which I would argue is what many with OCD might need due to its ability to help you shift focus.

I am wondering should i go without meds. It's been 2 weeks since i got to conclusion that I have ocd. It seems like i have pure o type of ocd. So i wonder should i just go without medication. Anxiety is very very high. But i can deal with it during the day i am just taking antipsihotic now before sleep so i can sleep. I wonder what to do. Should i go without meds or what.
