  • The Best Tech Trail in Bentonville? Riding Here's Johnny at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve!
Riding the Trek Top Fuel 8: alnk.to/5Q0YIBw
Bentonville is known for it's abundance of flow trails, so I was excited to take on Here's Johnny at Coler. Probably not a very popular trail, but it's quickly become one of my favorite trails here. I love a good tech challenge, and this trail certainly offers that!
When you hear Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, you probably think of Thunderdome, Fire Line, or Drop the Hammer which are all great, but today I'm going to show you my favorite trail Here's Johnny. A 1.5 mile long black diamond tech trail that can be quite challenging, but I love a good tech trail, so let's get right into it.
You're probably saying to yourself right now "ugh this guy is so slow" which isn't totally wrong, but this first section is pretty much all climbing, so don't let the flat GoPro footage fool you. I'm riding this trail south to north for reference, and if you couldn't tell by now, this isn't the typical "Bentonville Flow Trail". I'll also spare you the footage of my multiple failed attempts at certain sections and just show you the victorious ones. I'll add text in clarifying how many attempts each feature took.
So far I've done pretty well on this trail, but the last half mile or so is where things got worse. The moment I got my tires wet, it was slippy city which had me walking a section or two. No big deal...just another reason to ride this trail again. No this isn't the typical Bentonville trail, but that's what makes it all the more special. I've been riding slaughter pen a lot lately, and have been craving a tech trail like this. Yes I'm aware of Apple Turnover, and it's most certainly on my to do list. Anyways, if you're tired of all the incredible fast, flowy, jump lines bentonville has to offer, check out Here's Johnny for a technically challenging suffer fest that you won't soon forget.

Live here and have ridden Coler several times. I've never even thought about trying this trail. The sign at the beginning has always scared me away. Thanks for the footy of this one!

Should give it a go one of these days! No shame in walking a feature you aren't ready for. Thanks for watching the video!

Rock solid is just finishing up reworking the trails over at Lake Atalanta. The trails make a loop around the valley with blue/green running parallel to some spicy black tech trails. I live halfway between Slaughter-pen and the Railyard on the green way and those new trails are going to be having me go towards Roger's way more often now.

That's very exciting to hear! I took the kayak out on Lake Atalanta, but haven't made it over there to ride yet. I still have so much to explore in this area! It's overwhelming haha

Top Fuel is a really good tech climber. I've gotten up some stuff I've never cleaned before with what felt like ease

Same here John! I love the mental challenge of overcoming obstacles. Not the most adrenaline inducing part of mountain biking, but I love it!

I was going to suggest apple turnover 😂. Have you done “best trail ever” over at Fitzgerald? Fits is a mess after rain and the lower part, especially takes forever to dry.

I rode Fitzgerald last year when I was visiting. Super fun trail system. I'm excited to check it out now as a resident!

Thanks dude! Tires are the Bontrager XR4's that came stock on this bike. Pretty decent tires!

@@CobraKyle nice. Someone had mentioned them to me before and they look really good on paper. Fairly aggressive tread and super light weight. There’s just something about running Bontrager parts on a non-Trek bike that I can’t get past!
