I'm sorry but your segment about the Great Wall is bs. Yeah it's an iconic structure but you say it as if no one in the West had ever used local building materials or integrated such structures into the natural landscape. Take Hadrian's Wall as an example, which is about 80 miles long and was built in just 6 years. Hadrian's Wall is also way older than the Great Wall of China (GWC), built around 122 AD, whereas the most famous parts of the GWC were completed in the 16th Century AD, meaning it's not even that ancient.
You are absolutely correct that there are similar structures in the West, such as Hadrian's Wall, that utilize local materials and blend into the landscape. Hadrian's Wall, constructed around 122 AD, actually predates the most renowned sections of the Great Wall of China (GWC). The intention of the comparison was to underscore the utilization of local resources in the construction of the Great Wall of China, as it didn't employ identical materials but instead utilized those available in the surrounding area. Additionally, it aimed to highlight how both structures integrate into their respective environments, rather than diminishing the significance of other historical constructions. Thank you for bringing attention to this oversight.
Simply wonderful!
Thanks for the great subtitles.
