What he fails to recognize is that Mazzula is coaching circles around Kidd, Boston's defense is outstanding, and it's just a bad match-up for the Mavs. Surprised Mike fell into the trap so many national media did in underestimating what is a generationally good Boston team.

@@Momus2024 I follow sports, I don’t have my own show. The national media swung and missed. You don’t need a show to see that. Almost every prominent sports opinion host picked the Mavs. Why? Because of the ridiculous narrative on the Celtics: they can’t win in the clutch, Tatum is soft, you can’t winning shooting that many 3’s (Hello!!! Stef Curry Warriors say hi). I’m a Celtics fan and I’ve grown sick of this narrative. Going into the Finals it was pretty clear. This was a REALLY bad match up for the Mavs. Boston’s switching defense would prevent lobs and kick outs that the Mavs had used so effectively against OKC and Minne. All Boston had to do was dribble penetrate and kick out. They haven’t even played well and they’re up 3-0. I’m shocked so many pundits got it so wrong. It wasn’t rocket science. You’re already starting to see some Mea Culpas. Not from Big Mike, he’ll blame the refs.
I remember in the 70's & 80's when the NBA Finals was like Christmas... nobody missed watching no matter who was playing... the LAkers, Celtics, 76'er, Bulls, Pistons, Magic, Spurs etc.... Not sure what teams move the needle in today's TV landscape.... the game was way different too.
Idk, pretty sure the NBA is way more popular now than it was in the 80s. Not saying the quality of the game is better, but it was kind of still fringe in the 80s.
Some of the most iconic players and teams were in that era. Today's game doesn't even compare to back then. It also doesn't help that Dallas doesn't even belong on the same court as Boston.

I have the ultimate respect for Jerry West however when a team loses in the Finals you can't say it wasn't his fault. Yes it was . It's a team game . He's not separate from the team. Him and all his teammates are responsible for losing. By the way it was the Alcindor/Jabbar Bucks team that broke that 33 game Lakers winning streak

Doncic neber plays defense. He stands in the lane and waits for a rebound. His assists should be more considering he dribbles first -12-16 seconds per possession. Harden put up these numbers as well so did Westbrook.
Koepka's done well in the majors, but other than a few weeks ago, Bryson's been horrible in these majors since joining Liv. The big names get a ton of money and lose any type of motivation, and the other few liv guys that get to play in any major rarely have a good showing. Not that he was a big personality, and I doubt he's missed has Dustin Johnson even made a cut besides the PGA a few weeks ago??
