    That's a good tip: "Don't sand the outer edges of patches." I keep trying that, but as you say, it messes things up easily. Will try a skim coat next time.

    Dude, youre awesome. I love your chill demeanor. And I really appreciate how you include pics and videos of others "what not to do" because it really punctuates your point. Plus, im usually doing the stuff in the "wrong way" videos lol, its nice to see in a non judgy kind of way what im doing wrong. Keep em coming!

    I don't know if I'm a pro, but I usually just take a stff knife and knock the burbles off between coats. Of course there's always a tradeoff. Waste time trying to make every coat perfect or waste time sanding what could have been wiped off. I'm aiming for the sweet spot in between.

    So I'm installing a backsplash in the kitchen using Mapei Type1. It requires PrimerT to be painted on first. Unfortunately the manufacturer requires ALL old paint removal to the paper on the drywall, apply PrimerT, then the Mastik. What's the best way to do that without it taking forever and without sanding too much to past the paper?

I end up charging more than it would have been if they just called me in the first place. Anyhow, great video as usual. I didn't learn anything new, but I'm sure most will. ;-)

    I've never seen anybody sand a tape coat before, ever. If you have to sand before you even coat you shouldn't be finishing drywall.

    • @ThatKiltedGuyDIY
      @ThatKiltedGuyDIY  2 года назад +5

      That’s not true, because no matter how good you are, you can get minor drips and boogers that need to be sanded off or scraped off before you start coating. And I’ve done that both ways.
