Top notch equipment??? The "VAB " APC's you saw on the clip are 30 yrs old. We no longer have a small arms industry . Last March the crew of our single aircraft carrier was 50% infected by COVID and as a result, the ship had to remain in Toulon until recovery of all the sailors. Airlifting capacity comes in too small numbers and there are shortcomings even in the smallest details : enlisted soldiers prefer to buy hiking shoes with their own money from sports stores rather than wearing the army-issued ones, cuz the latter are a sure way to have blisters....

Without disclosing or carrying on, suffice it to say I'm well informed and fully comprehending the current, and past, state of affairs with all the major militaries. I'm aware that sustainability and unit depth is a serious issue throughout Europe. It was in the US as well until 2016... We have restocked the shelves nicely. We'll see what the next 4 years brings..

Our big pharma champion Sanofi revealed itself unable to produce a vaccine, in the face of start-ups like Moderna or BioNtech; our vaccination programme lags behind because we have been unable to organize their procurement ( we have trusted too much the European Commission in this matter). Likewise, European co-operation has brought nothing to our defence industries . Our German "partner " has preferred TWICE to produce their main combat aircrafts ( e.g. Tornado and Eurofighter) with other firms than ours. Co-operation between Nexter and MDD is IMHO doomed.

I think she's doing just fine in multiple arenas, and remains a stalwart and reliable ally, for which we are grateful. I don't think a major adversary combatant would wish to fight French forces on the sea, in the air or on the ground. And when you factor in NATO, well then France is part of a dominant, and unbeatable team.

D'où sortez-vous cette information ? rien vu passer à ce titre. Le Japon est fortement contraint dans sa politique de défense par sa constitution voulue pacifique et même les ventes de matériels militaires ne sont autorisées que depuis qq années. Les Philippines ont récemment acheté qq radars terrestres et le Japon promeut son avion P-1 de patrouille maritime. Encore aujourd'hui, les forces japonaises sont désignées comme étant d'auto-défense et elles interviennent très peu à l'extérieur. Elles ont déployé qq avions et navires à Djibouti pour protéger leurs navires marchands et lutter contre la piraterie. La zone d'action reste essentiellement limitée au Pacifique occidental donc loin des zones d'actions françaises. Les tensions restent fortes avec la Corée du Sud, pays aussi très bien équipé et qui devrait être un allié naturel du Japon face à la Chine mais le passé reste douloureux (colonisation japonaise, exactions, femmes de confort). En fait, le premier partenaire du Japon reste les USA et de très loin. Le Japon se rapproche aussi de l'Inde pour contrer la Chine, Inde qui a effectivement un partenariat stratégique avec la France. Il y a des coopérations avec la France, achats de matériels (hélicos par exemple) mais difficile de dire que Japon et France sont des alliés importants. La France peut se tourner vers l'Inde, l'Indonésie et l'Australie comme relais de puissance, appui, le Japon vers ces mêmes pays mais les relations directes devraient rester limitées.

La France va avoir un nouvel allié de poids si j ai bien compris ...le Japon. Confirmation?
D'où sortez-vous cette information ? rien vu passer à ce titre. Le Japon est fortement contraint dans sa politique de défense par sa constitution voulue pacifique et même les ventes de matériels militaires ne sont autorisées que depuis qq années. Les Philippines ont récemment acheté qq radars terrestres et le Japon promeut son avion P-1 de patrouille maritime. Encore aujourd'hui, les forces japonaises sont désignées comme étant d'auto-défense et elles interviennent très peu à l'extérieur. Elles ont déployé qq avions et navires à Djibouti pour protéger leurs navires marchands et lutter contre la piraterie. La zone d'action reste essentiellement limitée au Pacifique occidental donc loin des zones d'actions françaises. Les tensions restent fortes avec la Corée du Sud, pays aussi très bien équipé et qui devrait être un allié naturel du Japon face à la Chine mais le passé reste douloureux (colonisation japonaise, exactions, femmes de confort). En fait, le premier partenaire du Japon reste les USA et de très loin. Le Japon se rapproche aussi de l'Inde pour contrer la Chine, Inde qui a effectivement un partenariat stratégique avec la France. Il y a des coopérations avec la France, achats de matériels (hélicos par exemple) mais difficile de dire que Japon et France sont des alliés importants. La France peut se tourner vers l'Inde, l'Indonésie et l'Australie comme relais de puissance, appui, le Japon vers ces mêmes pays mais les relations directes devraient rester limitées.
@@paulx9329 il s agissait d une question et non d une affirmation. TBS parle en ce moment des entraînements des militaires français. Le Japon cherche de nouveaux alliés et pas que américains et se sont les médias nippons qui en parlent. Nous verrons d ici quelques mois ce qui resultera de ses exercices conjoint.
@@breizhancien56300 J'avais perçu la question mais considérait aussi la présence d'une affirmation à la lecture du début de votre premier post qui semble mentionner une source. Qu'est-ce que TBS ? un média nippon ou un site ? j'ai regardé sur Theatrum Belli et sur un autre site bien documenté et fréquenté par des connaisseurs, n'ai rien trouvé (certes, en tapant juste "France" et "Japon"). Auriez-vous un lien, je suis curieux ? Il ne serait pas étonnant que le Japon cherche à développer des relais de puissance, des partenaires en sus des seules USA dont la supériorité est de plus en plus contestée par la Chine mais l'Australie, la Corée du Sud, Taïwan et l'Indonésie, sans oublier l'Inde viennent en premier à l'esprit.
